Well now I am fully in RAID mode I want to be able to make image disks at certain stages of installation:

Basic Windows and chipset Drivers fully updated only.

As above but with Benching installed

Fully loaded with office and printer drivers installed.

But what software is compatable with RAID for doing this?

Post your advice here people.

Cheers

I have norton ghost but for normal ntfs systems do you need to have a fat partition to stick your ghost image on to??

Acronis True Image rules :D It reads nVidia RAID drives fine :) just make sure you get the latest version

Tried Version 9 and I think have set up RAID non-standard - also tried (so far):

Powerquest Drive Image

Paragon Drive Back-up

Acronis Trueimage v9

NERO drive back-up (embedded in nero 6)

Still to try Ghost, but think it will go the same way.

I need to re-install (again) but this time perhaps use standard (optimal) settings and format using standard cluster sizes etc....

Cheers for the advise guys - appreciate it, I am learning more and more about RAID as I go along - this is just another part of the process (dammit!!).

I used acronos but soemtimes it wouldnt pick up my sata drives, moved to norton and never looked back. I have drive image for a fresh build wtih zero drivers, and one with games apps installed, tend to do a fresh build every few months and it works great.

When I set-it up properly on NVRAID I found I could back teh image up but the image size was mahaasssiiiffff compared to the sypical 3GB images I am used to when doing non-raid back-ups.

I think this would depend on the version of Ghost that you are using.

I use Norton Ghost 2002 where everything is done under true DOS and with this version you must store your Ghost Image on a FAT 32 partition otherwise when it comes to restoring or dumping your image it will not be visible and therefore will be unavailable for selection.

When using N-G 2002, did you ever wonder why when restoring your NTFS WIN XP image (normally C:\ partition) from your D:\ FAT 32 partition (image file directory) the image you are restoring will be listed as C:\ FAT 32 partition? This is because NTFS can not be "seen" from DOS so automatically your D:\ FAT 32 partition moves up into the C:\ directory.

I have not tried other versions of Drive Image programs but I believe you can image a RAID-0 array (NVRAID Controller) using Ghost. I only discovered this recently after researching the subject myself.

You need to download the nvraid%20nf3nf4 .pdf file and scroll right through to the very last chapter/section where you will see: "Using Ghost with NVidia RAID"

I hope this helps although by now you will already have the answer! LOL :D
