Best aftermarket gpu cooler ? (7870)

G'day folks.

So my xfx 7870 has started playing up recently and for some reason the cooling on it is horrific whereas before I could get an overclock on it. I've done everything that has solved previous xfx 'card problems (custom fan profile, re doing the thermal paste, etc) and while this has fixed the temperatures at stock (99% usage in sleeping dogs for three hours @75c max, case fans at max and gpu fan speed at 70%), I want to go back into overclocking it as I now have a cpu that won't bottleneck it.

So, my question is would it be worth getting an aftermarket cooler for it and if so which one? I'm planning on getting another card when the new AMD gpus are released so that I am truly ready for Star Citizen :D.

I should also mention for cooling via the case I have a 140mm intake fan next to the gpu, 2 120mm fans at the front on intake near the gpu and some other fans that are more for the seidon's rad/ airflow for the mobo.

As usual any help appreciated :)

Personally, I'd try and upgrade.

Given the price of 670s nowadays (second hand for under £150) you may as well try to push for something like that.

Tempting but I've had no luck with second hand parts at all ( I got a 570 second hand and it died 1 month later). However I guess if I got it from a seller I could trust and had concrete proof it wasn't knackered/cursed/had cooling issues it'd be an amazing idea as I could Sli later on (relatively) cheaply. :D

TBH, with the cost of custom coolers nowadays I don't honestly think it's worth buying them for GPUs. Mainly because most custom coolers on cards are pretty good now, ex. Twin Frozr, Direct CU II, Ice Q X2.

Just get a card that has a decent cooler on it already and you'll be happy. I also think the 670 is a good shout since they are selling dirt cheap at the moment.
