best 7850?

XFX - terrible for us Europeans, great cooling and decent overclocking numbers
Gigabyte - All round best tbh, the windforce versions are king
MSI - not known for the highest of overclocks, but have great cooling....and look amazing
Sapphire - Blue pcb and tacky shrouds ergh
VTX3D - Not soo sure.
Asus - top dog at everything, direct CUII is amazing.
It's mostly down to aesthetics, features and bundle choices.
Silicon lottery will always be present
Just go and look for reviews about every 7850 that has caught your eye, compare them all based on your requirements.

well the cooler will only be used for hopefully a short time due to wanting a full W/C loop. ive heard about problems finding backplates for certain designs of the 7850. is that true or is it just people not knowing where to look?
and due to watercooling the cooler is kinda redundant so rlly ill be looking for the best overclocking a nd performance variation of the card...

Every card is different, just like CPUs. For example, my MSI 7850 will reach 1305MHz on the core, but that doesn't mean yours will.
also, you'd mentioned water-cooling.. so all these partnered PCBs can be tricky
for water blocks.. find your block(s) first and purchase what they fit.. too many
hot cards and no waterblock choices.. then you'll have to sell and buy another
GPU to fit a block.. reference is best for water-cooling.

i was thinking of this block cause i really like the simple clean look... but they dont appear to do a backplate for it...
so in your opinion what would be a good card for that block?

They have just released a backplate it's on there website , I've been looking around I can't find any in stock in the UK or the rest of the eu . Also I have heard mentined you can use the 7870 plate ? How true that is I don't no . As mentioned the blue PCB is minging , hence the backplate search . As for my overclock I havn't taken it above 1100 / 1250 there is more there though .

No I haven't got the block mate , I was just looking for the backplate for the looks over anything . I'm not going to water cool this card as I'm saving for a HIS 7970 , and all the gubbins for a full loop . Overall I'm very impressed with the card for the money it's a little beast..

Ah i see. Well from what people have said on here its definately between the asus and sapphire models. And ive checked the EK site and the block does fit those cards. So really it all depends on the backplate availability cuz i dont wanna see the blue pcb lol.

errr. i do agree on the asus part, but not on the rest. MSI has some great overclocking cards, had a 7870 hawk laying around a few days ago and it overclocked like the bee's knees. and from what i have seen gigabyte windforce cards don't perform that well, seems to me like that ermahgerd 3 fans thing is what makes people go wild for them.
best way to minimize risk in silicone lottery with GPU's is to look at the overclocks people are getting with 7850's. Whichever brand seems to be getting the better overclocks, is generally the brand that's using the best PCB's and will give you the highest win % on the lottery. I guess japanese capacitors would be something to look for too, but some manufacturers will give an unwarrented price gouge just for those, so be watchful on that.
Saphire gave me a good little 6750 ~3 years ago, that things still doing real well, brother is using it as an interim card since he sold his 6870 and saving up for a 7000 series.

XFX still going strong here, and I love the look of their cards 
In that case, as airdeano said you'll need to go with a reference design card. Most cards mentioned use completely different designs, which won't be compatible with that block. Since all of the reference design cards are the same, I'd recommend going with the cheapest you can find.
On a side-note, why specifically a HD7850? If you want performance, do note that overclocking can only get you so far, so it's often better to focus the a better GPU itself (unless you are willing to sacrifice it for aesthetics, which you probably are).
