hello people

im after some advice on what 120mm fans are going to be best to use for case airflow and also radiator use. i would kinda like to keep to the one brand for airflow and radiator use if possible as im sure quite a of you do to just to keep everything looking the same.

i will be using alphacool nexxxos monsta radiator

Well you'll need an airflow fan( for case airflow) and a static pressure fan (for rads) then. The best in the business is Noctua.

I would go with Corsair SP120 and AF120 for radiators and case airflow respectively. They are great fans and have colored ring options, and soon both sets will have LED lighted options.

ahh yes they might be the best in the business when i comes to fans but deffo not when it comes to colour schemes :)

although saying that for the right build brown and cream could work. i had been thinking of using them for the pc in my front room as my front room is brown and cream but no other pc parts that i know of come in that colour scheme

could be what im looking for although i wont be waiting for the LED version

thanks for the quick reply and advice people

And immune to loud fans D:.

NF F12 iPPC are 2000 or 3000 rpm PWM : the 2000rpm version will almost never get to full speed in PWM unless you have really high temps...

And there always are low noise adapters in the package

With a Monsta the stock NF F12 would be enough, but iPPC are higher level fans. Normal NF F12 are not bad for airflow too, since they put out ~65 cmf at full speed ( and it's usually under the 1500 rpm stated: this could happen to iPPC too )

There doesn't seem to be a lot of love for Gentle Typhoons. The 1850RPM version has always served me well. It's quiet, affordable and serves well for both air flow and static pressure. They are just hard to find.

Actually they have quite low airflow compared to other fans, even lower speed ones

They're very good for heatsink/rads but i'm quite sure that their noise is higher pitched than noctuas

Gentle typhoons for me too. Shame you can't buy them new any more as I've yet to find anything that comes close. I reckon that my noctua nf-f12 must be faulty as it makes way more noise than all my other fans at the same rpm. (No odd noises, just motor/ air noise) As to airflow, the gt1850 definitely outpaces everything I've used again. The only complaint I've read about is bearing whine which, luckily, I can't hear as it's not loud enough. (Even though I have 6 of these fans) I measured it at a peak around 15khz of about 10db but lower frequency noise in my room drowns it out.

Tbh, having used proper fans made by the best in the business, I've decided not to bother wasting money on "computer" fans. Anything from nidec, sanace, delta, panaflo or papst will do for me. Gt's were made by nidec servo, hence their performance & reliability. They are also the only fans I've ever seen that were pretty much balanced with no rotor wobble. (The phanteks fans that came with my case are awful by comparison)

Noiseblocker eloops were considered the closest that you could get to a gt for noise. Have a look at martins liquid lab fan testing.

No low noise adapters with the PPC fans (I use 4 of them).

They use a 3-phase motor, which ain't compatible with the LNA or the ULNA. Don't ask me why though. :p

LNA adapters look like simple resistors. This wouldn't prevent a three phase motor to work, they just receive less power

However LNA adapters are quite useless nowadays ( on pwm fans ) thanks to UEFI bios and configurable fan speed curves

I like the Noiseblocker eLoop fans(not in pull, makes you fear that the fan is going to blow up every second, and makes a "grind" sound), allso avaleble in diffrent OEM versons i other colours.
The Noctua NF-F12's are allso extremly good fans, looking on geting the PPC verson myself, and run it really slow.
Bought fans are reasonable quiet and move a lot of air compared to its noise output.

Quite expensive fans, but imho it worth it!

Yet, when you look for their LNA, the http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=70&lng=en, there's a caution:
Caution: The NA-RC7 adaptors are not compatible with Noctua’s industrialPPC series.

And it is not a power draw issue (adapter up to 3W, fan goes up to 1.2W).

Ive just got a pair of Cougar vortex.....at the beginning i didint believe the reviews for this fans. I swear that installed on a corsair h100i on idle it keeps my i7 4770k ar 27...and if i use the corsair link to speed them to the max..you only hear the wind...nothing more. strange is that this company cougar..dont have any uk resellers..you can get them on amazon if you like. If you guys dont believe me i can make a movie recording the sound level of this fans.
