Been playing today with a netbook

I got a repair job in this morning, a virus laden Samsung NC10 netbook. It's the first time I have used a netbook, and I am pleasantly suprised with it. It's sports an Intel Atom N270 CPU, and is running XP. I never took the netbooks seriously, as I like my hardware to come with plenty of grunt, but after having been using this one for a couple of hours, I am starting to re-think now. It's nippy enough for everyday useage, and is small enough to chuck in my briefcase. I reckon I might just see about getting one today:D

They are very good for what they are. Being spoilt with today's hardware, one forgets quite how little is needed for general use. Couple that with a decent screen, keyboard, battery life and portability and you're onto a winner :)

Very happy with my NC10.

I keep thinking about getting a netbook, but then stop and think where it would fit into my life. I use my iphone for quick web access, my main PC for serious work/web stuff and my laptop for anything else.

They do look and feel nice though

I got one on the basis that I couldn't afford anything but a slow, heavy laptop, where the only reason I wanted something aside from a desktop was for portability. My Eee has been super so far. It's quicker than I thought it'd be and the storage constraints due to the 4gb hdd are non-existant really.

Got me into using a bit of Linux aswell which is a new break for MS :)

Got myself an Acer Aspire One, and it's a great little machine.

Seems a bit sluggish with Windows XP on it now, as opposed to the various Linux setups i had on it, but i'm more comfortable with Windows over Linux :)

The Aspire One represents fantastic value for money. Honestly, buyers are spoilt for choice in this market segment as most of the netbooks are very good indeed. I too am interested to see how the nVidia Ion based netbooks fare, now that the god awful 945GM chipset has been removed!

That's pretty much the reason I bought the NC20.. That and the fact I wanted a proper resolution but at netbook prices.

Figured I'd give the VIA Nano a bash.

Thanks mate, that one's been added to the maybe list:) Trouble is that there are loads to pick from, still haven't made my mind up yet. The price of this one looks very appealing though.
