Lian Li's UniFans also technically doesn't require a hub. You can purchase separately an ARGB header to connect to the motherboard and control the RGB that way.
Daisy chaining with No rgb will win it for me. The new Phanteks are really tempting but I just cant fathom that cost.
It would be more expensive than buying a 12900k CPU for me...

Persoanally I don't care about ARGB/RGB on fans so long as i can get the colour i want, I have some cheap blue LED ring fans and they do the job fine and were less than £5 each from scan.
Some of the nicer fans while doing a better job cost a packet like £25 a fan to me that is a waste it's not like it's going to bring down the ambient temp in the room so i don't see the point myself, sure it might get you 1-2C lower but at that price no thanks.

For radiator cooling there can be a massive difference. I swapped from one fan to ML120s albeit i have 16 of them and temps dropped 15C thats substantial given todays toasty products.
The Phanteks can go even better and clean up the cable clutter, but those are £30 here per fan.

Well from my viewpoint which is most likely the norm for most people, I'd need 6 fans costing me £140 vs £30 while being able to spend it else where, I get that they do the job better but the end result for me isn't worth it.
It'd be different if my budget mind was more willing, but £25 a fan is too much, even me getting 2 just for my 240 AIO I don't see value as that would cost the same as the whole unit did when i brought it, while I'm on a Ryzen 1700 the cheap fans it came with still allow me 4Ghz without issue or temp issues.
Then there is the ice gaint that is going to cool far better at far less cost so idk but really just my take on it, like all things in life you live by your means there really is no right or wrong on anything people buy.

100% agree. Sadly many don't have the willpower to hold off on unnecessary purchases.
