Basic Overclocking Guide for Intel Core 2 Duo Processors

Hi guys, new to this thread.

But i just wanted to ask you all about the vcore, i have no idea on vcore, on my bios settings, its manual, but im oc on

p5ne-sli

E8400 3.0ghz, oc to 3.3ghz - stock cooler

2gb of ddr2 ram

im getting stupidly high temperatures, i did give my system a super clean, and re applied thermal paste.. but why is it so hot?

ive heard people getting like 3.6 with stock cooler @ high 60's, low 70's (c)

to try and help the situation, ive just ordered a h50, and i hope that will get it up a bit more. >.<

so is it my vcore voltage? if so how on earth do i figure it out? >.< ive heard people say like 1.35v... but i dont want to risk breaking my system, as im still in school, and cant afford to fork out on a cpu.

Quick and simple answer dude, you need a new cpu heatsink.

I agree with Tom. Also get some extra cooling on the NB and SB. I have this board and when ocing it gets pretty toasty.

Have to wait till I finish work to get at my data. more later.

yeah i heard about the nb and sb getting stupidly hot, with any oc'ing. Could you recommend some cooling solutions as i know that the gpus block the one of the bridges (south) isnt it?

Thanks.

Can't believe there are so little C2D overclock's added!

I was looking for some advice on my new E7500 to run alongside my Phenom 2.

Anyone know anywhere I can get some tips. I completely new to C2D overclocking!

Ended up moving to Intel 775 for now. Got myself a Q6600 up to 3.6Ghz @ 1.45v. Seems the norm for this chip. I see the last post was also mine, it's been a while! Is no-one using 775 anymore !?!?!

Asus P5K-E P35 board so not overly overclockable. I'm happy with the performance though. Nice to speak with you as well by the way. I use the same username on the Aria forums and have seen you on there.
