B650 AM5 motherboards are now available to pre-order in the UK

looking at those prices, after my current system is no longer up to gaming I may have to become a console gamer

Console is much better investment today than gaming PC's IMHO. I buy, play and sell Bluray PS5 games, as I never replay games I finished. Good economy (yours, not Sony).

There is no point in building gaming PC with latest PC parts. But if you really need gaming PC for whatever reason, just use last gen parts with last gen RTX/RADEON for much better price and you are good to go for years to come.

well i am curious about AMD/INTEL/NVIDIA next quarter numbers.

with these prices they ask i see not many people buying...

That's a huge price increase over B550 motherboards. I'm now definitely not upgrading to Zen 4. I don't need the cores of a 7950X. I don't need the IPC of a 7700X. I don't need the gaming performance of a 7800X3D (or whatever they'll call it). Let's see what Raptor Lake brings and then go from there.

lmao. What a total bust.

Agreed. For me personally, Zen 4 is a total bust. I totally see why the 7950X is the only Zen 4 CPU actually selling, because that's the only one that makes sense. It's basically the 4090 of processors.

Totally man. They are doing what Nvidia do best, rail roading you into the most expensive because most of the rest don't make any sense.

That said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 5000 series tbh.

But yeah, these board prices are ridiculous. Just absolutely ridiculous. The board in the pic above is a £80 board. It's ugly, cheap and every corner has been cut. Yet it costs £230. Just utter madness.

Now what I will be interested to see is Intel's pricing on their next gen boards. Because they will use everything the AMD boards need so we will then find out just how much AMD are skimming on the chipsets. And I bet it's a lot.
