Hi all
I have recently overclocked my 7700k to 4.8 ghz but have noticed that setting the avx offset option to 3 does really help temperatures.
I was under the impression that most games do not use "avx instructions" but it seems that for most of the games which I play for example battlefield one the cpu clock speed fluctuates between 4.8 and 4.5 meaning that the offset is obviously working but does this also mean that by enabling this I am not actually getting the full benefit of the overclock?
I don't have an understanding of the way in which these "avx instructions" work is it that a game can utilise both non avx and avx instructions which causes the clock to go up and down but you still get the benefit of the overclock for the non avx instructions?
I can't really find much on this out on the Internet but please link any relevant information as I'm sure there is an explanation somewhere!
Thanks!
