AV-Test.org Reports Stats from Antivirus Roundup

All the ones who are saying Symantec is terrible, are you guys sure you're not thinking of Symantec's "Norton" line?

Because Symantec's Corporate Anti-Virus is actually really really good, and isn't a bloated useless app like Norton and takes up the same amount of resources as NOD32. Tonnes of new Definnitions go out for it every night too.

AntiVir, AdAware, ZoneAlarm & Thunderbird - all regularly updated of course have looked after me for a couple of years. Got a couple of mates who laugh at me from behind their NOD32 armour....might not be laughing as loud now though :rollingla

Surely you use spybot - search & destroy too?? I just use AntiVir, Spybot and adware. About firewall - router and windows firewall do the trick for me :)

No but I may give it a try - also use Windows Defender, IE Privacy Keeper, Reg cleaner.....Can't say I've really had many problems - a few phishing expeditions trying it on but nothing thats got through

NOD32 pwns all despite what any of these ridiculous tests say.

We all know it, disregard all "tests" that say otherwise :p

This man speaks the truth

I don't use a single virus scanner or anti-virus. :)

I don't get many viruses (touchs wood), I only run off of the Windows Firewall!

All you need really.

Lawl, you have single handedly set yourself up for certain disaster :)

Windows Firewall isn't going to stop adware, spyware, or viruses for that matter from getting on to your computer.

A firewall simply blocks access to certain ports on your computer, aka hacker prevention. Doesn't do a SINGLE thing to help against adware, spyware, or viruses.

Do as Llwyd suggested, you'll be like z0mg!!! So, go get yourself an AV and Spyware removal proggy ASAP.

Alright guys! :)

Ill be back in a mo with a picture of the results.. Either I will cry and you lot will laugh.. or I will laugh and you lot cry!

Thats because you already deleted the bad stuff and then rescanned to make it look like it its not that bad :p

Did you update AdAware before you scanned? also post a screenie of the Critical Objects tab lol

Oh and try Spybot S+D aswell.

Can't believe you don't use any Anti-Virus in this day and age , just asking for trouble imo. Viruses can do serious harm to a PC + stored data, so running + updating an AV program every now and then isn't too much hassle.

Meh... I don't run my Anti-Virus. I install one every once and a while just to scan my system and it's always clean.

Woah, and theres me thinking religiously that an anti virus was needed. Im sure it still is

Have you ran an online scan recently for viruses? Try the "trendmicro housecall" online scan and see if it finds anything.

I think that we all know that common sense prevails

If we go snooping round the darker side of the 'Net we are more likely to be come infected with nasties....I realise that they are everywhere but its the difference between walking through the back streets of some inner city no go area on a Saturday night all 'Blinged Up' and a stroll the following afternoon in the country.

There is always a chance someone may jump you so you may as well have your bodyguard with you all the time but you know he'll earn his money on a Saturday night!
