Hello all,
First real post here and i hope the title doesnt offend (automatic overclocking? PAH!
)
My motherboard has a function to overclock for me (only up to 10%) and i was wondering about how safe it is. i know this may sound silly because 10% may not be much, but im just curious.
Its called Asus AI overclocking for the processor and asus smartdoctor for my graphics card.
the upper limits that it offers are 10% on the processor, making my opteron 185, sock 939 from 2.6ghz to 2.9ghz ish.
graphics card: engine(?) from 648mhz memory clockable to 750mhz
memory [DDR] 1998 clockable to 2200
Any idea how safe it is to crank them both to max?
my asus pc probe says at present: temp cpu = 37c and motherboard temp = 39c
this is a big step for me and so am a little worried. do these programs alter the voltage etc if needed automatically? do these values remain after shutdown?
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Bodo
p.s. sorry if i seem like an Asus only person, its just a coincidence and the mobo and gfx cards fault...
