Since I have got the first part of my upcoming build I thought now was a good time to start my project log.

Here are the general planned specs for those who care:

Case: Bitfenix Colossus Black (received)

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K

Mobo: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe

RAM: Mushkin Blackline 2x2 GB CL7 memory (there are no CL6 modules currently available in Germany for a reasonable price)

GFX: Gigabyte GTX 570

Storage: 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3

Cooler: Noctua NH D14

PSU: Corsair HX750

ODD: Bluray player / DVD burner combo (received)

So today I got a package, well a monster package, in the post. It was my Colossus and some stuff I got bundled with it and I have to tell you guys it's a huge case.

Here a quick picture of the case and the box.

I also got a Bitfenix Spectre 140mm Fan for the back of the case, since it doesn't come fitted with one

And finally some Bitfenix Alchemy Sleeved Cables in blue/black.

That's it for now. More to come once I get the other parts ordered and delivered.

EDIT: Well images don't seem to be showing? Don't know why, used the "insert image" and uploaded to OC3D uploader.

EDIT 2: Reuploaded to Photbucket and it works now...

Updated the first post with more current stats. I changed the CPU, Mobo and memory to Sandy Bridge, because I haven't ordered the CPU and Mobo anyways. So I thought it was a good idea to save some money and go with Sandy Bridge, since I won't get all the parts in till middle/end of January anyways.

Quick note on the Bitfenix Alchemy Cables. I must these look absolutely amazing, I am very impressed by those.

Looks like you've got a good component list there. I'll be watching this with interest. How good is the Colossus cable management?

Well I haven't had the chance to put the motherboard in but I already wired the 8 and 24-pin to their locations as well as the Sata connectors for the optical as well as the hard drives. I would say with a modular PSU you won't have any problems at all and with a non-modular one I am thinking there is plenty of room to hide and tie away cables at the back. There are also plenty of grommets for your cables.

Just a quick update here:

I finally manged to spare some time to order all the remaining parts this weekend.

PSU, CPU and RAM should be here tomorrow. Motherboard is scheduled for Friday, and GPU, NH-D14 and the Samsung F3 for Thursaday. Looks like a great week.

Oh and just if anyone was going to ask about all the different delivery dates, that's because I ordered from many different shops, which saved me a lot of money.

I love the colossus but it isn't out in the U.S. and would be too expensive to import so I would need to pass. When it comes to pc components you guys in the U.K. always get the best stuff.

But the US nearly allways gets it stuff cheaper so it evens it out, 2x4gb muskin silver line 1333mhz in the UK is £80 in the US its £50 at current exchange rate

.

As for the build it looks nice and solid, the braiding in the pic is

quality.

Just to give you a quick update:

All my parts finally arrived Friday, because my shipment got delayed. I didn't get to building or even opening the boxes yesterday, so today is the day

Here a first teaser of the parts that arrived. Building the system at the moment, pics of the finished build to follow

Most of the rig is finally done and built.

I still have to spend some time on the cable management and some other stuff. I also have an SSD and a NF-P14 Noctua fan coming.

Just to give you some impression of what it looks like. (Will take more pictures once it's all done and nice and tidy.)
