hi guys,

just wondering if there was a way i could get an A3D 2.0 enabled card to work on windows 7 (64bit??)

i remember when i used to play cs on my Sound Blaster Live! card (A3D 1.0 support??), the game sounded far better for positioning enemies than a X-Meridian or Titanium HD card...

i really would like to experience positioning sound like this again

what would be the best way to do it? if i had to go back to previous versions of windows i might be willing to revert to XP but im not sure how it would fair with Battlefield 3 or 4

ive heard it might be compatible with linux?

also, as im from uk, ive no idea where ill be able to find an A3D 2.0 card??

sorry about the vague topic.. i really dont know much about the drivers needed or compatible cards, i just want the best positional experience possible (without the ridiculous reverb or modern cards)

kind regards

which version of cs are you playing?

When setup correctly, it will sound far superior (using positional audio etc) than using an older A3D solution.

Bear in mind, both of the engines have their own software audio engine so hardware won't make a massive difference.

As for running bf3/4 on that kinda of hardware.. I very much doubt it.

I moved to a Xonar Solution (Essence STX) which so far, is better than anything else I've used for positional audio with headphones. The fact it's using just two speakers/drivers to create the effect makes it much more natural.

i am using Steam Counter Strike 1.6!

i maybe have to make an seperate CS gaming rig with windows 98..

i am currently using onboard sound from my 78LMTUSB3 motherboard, but also have an old 1st gen Auzentech X-Meridian lying around... would this give me better positional sound?

also, how much of an upgrade, for gaming, are cards like the STX, Creative Zx or ZxR, over my current solution/s ?

The ZXR is pants I would avoid that, the Essence STX is great I use mine for BF/CS loads of FPS and the positional audio is superb
