Atom - 2 CPUs?

Hi,

This is my first post, so apologies if it isn't in the right place.

I was looking at an Advent 4213 in PC World (UK only netbook based on the ECS G10IL - one of many atom-based netbooks currently being released) which is supposed to be fitted with the Intel Atom N270 aka "Diamondville" processor.

Running XP Task Manager on the machine indicated that there were two CPUs. I haven't looked at any other Atom-powered machines, but is this the case, or could this particular machine perhaps have been fitted with an Atom 330?

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Have you tried running cpuZ? apologies if you have, but that should tell you the identity of the processor. (Google CPUz)

The reason it shows two CPUs in the task manager is that the core is hyperthreaded. It's still one processing core but the OS sees it as two cores.

Here's a read if you're interested:

Dual core Atoms afaiik are due to arrive either late this year or early next year.

Thinking about it, it probably doesn't have a 330. I think that is still a desktop only cpu, with a higher power draw. My only explanation is that task manager is seeing 2 threads because the CPUs do HTing. It clearly states in all specs its got a standard 270 1.6GHz atom. Sorry, misunderstood your first post...thought you actually had one!
