I have HD5870 and i have 8800GTS 640MB.

I did everything like i'm supose to just like istructed in http://www.ngohq.com/graphic-cards/17706-hybrid-physx-mod-v1-03-v1-04ff.html

In Fluidmarks 1.1.1 and 1.2.0 my PhysX is in Hardware mode, but i still get verry low results.

I added some screenshots.

Please any ideas ???

PS. Software mode runs arround 9-FPS, so there is not much difference.

I have tested it today with 9800GTX+ and same results...

My RIG:

ASUS P5K Deluxe (chipset P35)

Q6600 @ 3.5GhZ

8Gb DDR2 RAM

i made same post here POST

But still no replys :-(

I am wondering if this has anything to do with my PCI-E ports... the top one (with ATI) has 16x

but the bottom one with Nvidia is only 1x i think...

"This blue PCI Express 16x slot allows gamers to configure their P5K Deluxe with any number of compatible graphics cards, Those fond of multi-GPU technology can also use two Radeon-based graphics cards in Crossfire mode on this motherboard. The second black PCIe 16x slot can be used to host an additional Radeon graphics card and although it only works at 4x speeds, there shouldn't be a noticeable loss in performance."

I took this piece from some random review...

I had it rigged in Xfire back in days and since it worked flowlesly i thought that it shouldnt be a problem...

Well it's obviously down to your specific hardware because I had no such problems when using a 3870x2 with an 8800 ultra.

The 8800GTS is reporting being in a 1x slot (see GPUz), so that is the reason. On top end hardware you will see a difference of 8x --> 16x, 4x is really only good for folding, 1x is a bit like sticking a big block chevy onto a ford fiesta, with the drivetrain made of toothpicks. There is going to be serious loss of perrformance.

Ok, i can understand that.

Is there any way to make my motherboard to preform more then x1 on the second PCI-E slot ???

Or is the only way to get new MOBO = new CPU + DDR 3 ram ? ;-)

I am thinkng about getting new RIG anyway, but i dont have 400£ ATM... :-(

I couldn't see the 1x because when you enlarge the pics the forum goes over them.

I have never, ever, in my entire life, seen a 1x full length PCIE slot. Unless they made them way back in the day? but on socket 775?

Soooo. Check your bios and all that, you've prolly goofed a setting somewhere.

Does anyone knows which BIOS settings could be couse to that ?

I have been trying to change settings and update bios, but with no use... :-(

Which settings in BIOS make my 2'ndary PCI-E port to work on maximum treshold???

Hey Ruszek, About to try the same thing with my machine. I've got a 5850 and GT240. Will let you know the outcome. I am using a gigabyte EP45-UD3P. I have read that you need a card with at least 64+ shaders to work so your 8800GT should be fine dude.

As usual, Alien investigates... I need a hat and a pipe in my sig..

Now, poking around I found this.

Processor support All Intel LGA775 CPUs except Celeron Ds

Northbridge Intel P35

Southbridge Intel ICH9R

Memory support 4 DIMMs, dual-channel, DDR2-1066/800/667, non-ECC, un-buffered memory, 8GB Max

Graphics (main) 2 x PCI Express x16 slots with support for ATI CrossFire, one at 16x speed, one at 4x

PCI Express 2 x PCI Express x1

PCI conventional 3 x PCI 2.2

Emphasis added.

Now, let's look at a picture, shall we?

OK. Now your two 1x PCIE are at the top. They're the small white ones. The blue one is your full 16x lane (as usual for Asus) and the black one is your 4x which is so super lame. But, 4x should about do it.

Now, the reason for my investigation is that I actually saw your board in an old issue of PC Format this morning. And it stated the same. So there is no reason why it should be running 1x, right? Wrong. I have an Asus board that's exactly the same age as your one. It has a similar cooler and everything, only it's AMD and it's miles better (sorry, not being ignorant, this is a £200+ board from 2008 we are talking about). As you can see, it's specced to the nines.

And here is why I think you are going wrong somewhere.. Look at this.

pcie1.jpg

So that's under Settings/Advanced. Then let's go to the next screen.

pcie2.jpg

Which is where my PCIE set up is stored. Now this screen is so confusing it's a joke. And no matter where I poke on the net I can't find any specifics on it.

When I originally built up the machine the board is in I did this.

Animal. A pair of 3870x2 *and* a 8800 Ultra. However, due to the bios I had some problems.

If I left those settings as they were I could only get a display from the 8800 Ultra before getting into Windows. At which point Windows would see the quadfire (dual 3870x2) as secondary cards behind the 8800 Ultra and I could not get the Ultra to act as a fifth GPU. So I tinkered with the settings in bios and I got my 3870x2 crossfire (quadfire) to take president over the 8800 Ultra.. Sadly when I went into Windows the 8800 Ultra was not even there and had been disabled.

By that time my computer was pumping out so much heat that I was drenched in sweat and the PC was so hot the cables had softened so I decided to call it off. But, I would strongly imagine your board has a very similar set up screen to mine, and you're going to need to eff with it to figure it out and sort your slots.

So, as said to you a couple of times.

Go to Asus and update your bios. You can do this in the bios with EZflash and a USB device (memory stick, memory card in a reader etc)

Make sure you do not have 1x devices in the slots as this *could* be lowering your overall PCIE bandwidth

Play with those settings (which I am pretty certain you will have) until you can get the card to 4x at least.

If none of the above work? then you have a hardware fault somewhere.

Oh BTW one last resort piece of advice.

RTFM

If you don't have one go and get a PDF one from Asus' site. Toward the back it runs you through the bios settings.

Many apologies for the double post.

Right, in future mate I suggest trying to read the manual for your product before seeking help. Stops you looking like a total noob. I just spent literally a minute looking through your manual only to find the answers to your problems.

The very first thing when the manual reccomends what to put where it says this.

And then this.

And then this.

Which you really REALLY should have done before posting.

Guys I needed to add this coz I am blown away. I am running an EP45-UD3P with an E8400 e0, 8GB of ballistix DDR2 and Sapphire 5850. I just added a GT240 and did the windows 7 patching. I have posted my 3DMark scores before and after the GT was added. I am gobsmacked.

Before

score - P12661

GPU - 15892

CPU 7864

After

score - P16829

GPU - 14804

CPU - 28534

3D Mark 06 score is 18495.

AlienALX #13 + #14.

Thx. I feel a little dull, that i didnt eaven look at the manual. I honestly didn't eaven think about problem like this could be described in the freakin' manual!

That helped. At least i got my score in Fluidmark 1.1.1 up from 2400 up to 5500, (which i still think is a little low, since some ppl with similar setup are getting 15000) but its lots better then before.

Mafia 2, runs a benchmark ALL MAXED (with PhysX at High) at 1680x1050 with AVG. 36fps. Which is better then 13fps before

THX a 1000 to AlienALX for the great help he provided!

That's not low dude. Well, it seems fine to me.

http://forum.overclock3d.net/index....sx-actually-worth-it-the-great-physx-roundup/

Read through that and run the same Fluidmark I did (1.2.0) and look at your score. As GenL said - "Ignore the score, Fluidmark is wildy inaccurate and only used to confirm Physx is working"

Crazy.

That's no surprise AT ALL. You didn't have CUDA cores helping your CPU out before, you do now.

My Phenom 9950 scores about 7k in Vantage. Add a 128mb Physx PPU? 11k or so. Radeons have no CUDA cores so your CPU score will be raw.

Sadly the only thing that GenL's mod will allow the usage of CUDA cores is in Vantage. Everything else they will be disabled (unless they are showing in GPUZ but I highly doubt that).

I'm adding a 8600GT to go alongside my 5870 next week, do u guys think this will be too slow to run Mafia 2 w/psysX @ med to high? (1080p)

There are a few bits and bobs on the web about the use of a physx dedicated card. Generally the line is drawn at a 9600GT/GSO, so I'm not sure how much difference an 8600GT will make. I'd be interested in the results either way.

adding a 8600gt just for physx will kill your FPS fella its not a powerful card anymore and it wont be able to handle it.

i used a 9800gtx and usage wise was abou 60%-80% on high so a 8600gt would blow up lol
