ATI HD2900XT Numbers in!

More info has popped up.

It seems that the full product page for the HIS Raedon HD 2900XT was accidentally uploaded to the HIS website, the page has since been removed - but that ain't gonna stop us from seeing it.

TechPowerUp managed to get some screenshots of the pages before they were removed and are now displaying them for our viewing pleasure. Unfortunately, we already knew all the information contained in the pages, but it never hurts to confirm rumors. The card displayed features 320 unified stream processing units, 8-channel 512-bit memory interface, high-speed 128-bit HDR (High Dynamic Range) rendering and up to 24x Custom Filter Anti-Aliasing. The product page claims the core to be 80nm - hopefully sooner rather than later the 80nm bunch become extinct and AMD set free the 65nm version.

It just means that by the time this gets released the 8900 series will be out as well as the new mobile range which the inq has also been talking about.

Hi. In short (as I don't have time to read every post here), when is the new ATi card being released, is it better than an 8800gtx and how much will it cost?

Yea, I was reading a couple reviews earlier

Keeping in mind its not meant to out-perform the GTX/Ultra, the performance is pretty good but it really needs some driver work.

My problem with it is the power draw, so its either jump on one of these and hope for better drivers pretty soon (£260) OR wait for the nV price cuts (£150 for a 320MB) OR wait for the 8900

:p

Worrying thing i have read is the power leakage, none of the cards are great, but some are worse than others, and this variation means that the fan speed has to be kept pretty high on all cards as a fail-safe measure.

Not terrible performance, but a card that only matches Nvidia's 2nd best card 6months later, with higher power consumption, longer board and higher noise levels.

Drivers from both card makers need a lot of work, seeing 20% gains from changes in Nvidia drivers in some DX10 benchies shows you how green they were.

Given the lack of DX10 stuff out there, IMO the best thing to do is to wait for better drivers, cooler and smaller boards, and by then you might even have some games to play to show it off as well!

Depends on the age of the wiring....probably around borderline?

Doesnt need 2KW though, 1000-1100W is mooorrreeee than enough, it depends how much current the PSU can pump out, and how stable the PSU is.
