Atari are working on a new console?

There's only two ways that this can go. Either it's the greatest console ever made or it's a disappointment. And I'm betting on the latter.

If they're trying to compete with PC/Xbone/PS4, just think about what this console would have to be like to be successful:
1. It would have to be at the very least just as powerful as the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X;
2. It would have to be affordable;
3. It would have to have attractive first party titles;
4. It would have to be easy to develop for in order to have support from third party developers;
5. It would absolutely need third party support;
6. It would have to be consumer friendly.

And if they're not competing with those systems, then it's a disappointment already.

It's probably some retro thing. Note the tagline "years in the making" they could be referring to the games. It's probably a throw back of sorts.

If it contains all of their arcade games yes it would be nice. If it is another modern console that it is the last thing we need.

Yeah, I'm gonna jump on the retro-box-train as well.
It's very unlikely, but it could also be a steambox, considering its name: Ataribox. But that's just very farfetched

Steambox, is that even a thing still, yes i know they are being sold but their presence online has prettymuch faded away.

Steambox is dead tbh. Even Alienware do not sell theirs any more, instead replacing it with the Alienware Alpha.

So they would be pretty bloody stupid to release something like that, two years or so after every one else.

Hopefully it's like a reasonably priced Atom powered device running a proprietary emulator. Then I might consider it :)

A retro box could be amazing, as long as they don't pull a nintendo with crap supplies and 30cm cords on the controllers, wtf xD
