I hope you know that if you use the digital out the soundcard makes no difference at all, as long as it has a digital out. The only thing that comes to mind is upmixing but I'd rather have that done by the receiver/amp if at all.

Yeah, you can still use Dolby Home Theater and DDL etc. Just testing different outputs atm. Bass sounds better via 3.5mm as you can enable Flex Bass, otherwise it sounds terrible.

Edit: I think I'm going to return this and get another D2X.
