Just got this soundcard two months ago and I gotta say it rocks. It's by far the best soundcard I have ever owned and heard for the PC. Best thing for me are the 2 6.3mm jacks so you can plug in some nice headphones. Please remember though, that this soundcard is heavily aimed at a stereo enviroment so dont get it if you plan on going surround. Asus has some good cards for that aswell

Excellent sound card. Whith the ability to change the AOP, you can really have the sound you want. By cons, purists prefer the ST version. It sounds slightly better.

Gettign the ST because i haev a legacy slot in the bottom of my mobo

It's definitely worth every penny you invest in it. I'd go with the STX for future proofing. I mean when there's no PCI slots around and you're left with PCI-E, then the card will be left out.

I think it costs slightly less for the STX than the ST (PCI), but I live in Canada so yeah....

Fantastic card, when I was looking a couple of years back I had it down to the Claro Halo and the STX, no regrets taking the Xonar. If you're not using the headphone amp, there are probably better choices out there, but as far as a headphone and all around card, I really think it's the best.
