I just bought this motherboard and fitted it with an i3 4340 and an ASUS Radeon R9 270X . In the specs of the motherboards it mentions "AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX™ Technology" . Does this mean that in the future I can add a second R9 270x in "crossfire" mode, or does "quad" mean only 4 videocards would work.

It means you could have two Dual GPU cards on the motherboard. For example you could install two 7990's and get a 4 way crossfire.
If you install a single card then the max you can obtain is the standard 2 way crossfireX configuration. In the future you may add one more 270x.

Basically in short:
Two GPUs working together in parallel to handle a workload provided by the OS and drivers. The CPU will offload the tasks to the GPUs like this;
GPU1: 1,3,5,7,9,11
GPU2: 2,4,6,8,10,12
The numbers are representing the frames. GPU1 will process every other frame and GPU2 processes the frames being skipped over by GPU1.
Anyway back on topic. This is a very potent motherboard for the price. Very strong competitor!

Intel recently released microcode for their CPUs so that only z87 boards can OC.. looks like you got lucky dude.
Make sure it is stable and all temps including the mobo are safe.

The statement that the Vanguard B85 doesn't have overclocking abilities is completely wrong. I have a Vanguard B85 mobo with an Intel i7-4770K CPU. I overclocked the cpu by changing just one setting in the B85's BIOS.

You guys do realize this thread was posted last year in Nov right? RKJ is still gone. Besides did you even read the products name? Its a B85 chipset board.. we are now in the 9 series.. :huh:
