ASUS teases the "World's First" Dual-Mode monitor, the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP

if anything it would make it easier to use in fps. bigger pixels on screen will make it easier for you to get those headshots, plus the 480hz.

True, but that only really matters to competitive gamers, and they don't use 32" monitors.

If they make a 27" version of this, that would be terrific. 4k at 27" looks fantastic, and 1080p looks decent enough.

If you play competitive games, that makes you a competitive gamer and I can assure you nobody is going to care it's 32" when you are at 480hz. Sure pros won't use it but how many pros are there vs people who want to try hard to win and have fun?

I think it's fine as is, more options would be nice but it's not really profitable for them to make 27" panels yet. Heck we are just now hitting 32"!

Yeah, I agree with this. It's the same thing when people say you're not a bodybuilder unless you compete in bodybuilding competitions. You can be highly interested in something without being 'public' about it, or in a professional sense where your income is involved or something like that. I think 32" 480Hz makes a lot of sense for guys who love to be competitive in MMO-FPS-type games who also want to play single-player immersive games as well and use the 4k setting. I do think 27" would be better in some ways, but maybe that option will come later.

The main problem with 32" monitors is that you have to pull yourself away from the monitor at a distance similar to when you're watching TV. Otherwise it produces eyestrain.

I've been living a natural bodybuilding lifestyle since 2010, 24/7, And to look at me you can quite obviously tell but because I don't have a pro card and I'm not sponsored I'm not classified by many as a "real" bodybuilder even though I've seen people smaller than me with sponsorships and then they are classified as bodybuilders.

The mental gymnastics people will do to either put others down or to make others fit in their narrow box of what <insert topic> should be has become more than a little sickening.

Have you done it or is this your opinion? Because I've used a 32" TV for PC gaming for years without a problem and I'm blind as a bat. Not to mention all the people using UW 34",39"+ monitors.

ive never had to pull away from my monitor even with HDR 1000. Nor have I ever had eye strain from it.

I think its simply an issue that varies person to person, much like motion sickness in VR.

I have, yes. I had an AOC 32" monitor that was really dirt cheap and popular at the time. The thing was 50cm from my face (as is my current monitor) and at that point it becomes more difficult to automatically scan the entire screen with your eyes, especially if you're playing something fast-paced.

It's not due to brightness, but due to having to observe a larger area. It requires more concentrated effort. That's what increases the strain.

My point still stands. Im on a 34 inch widescreen monitor and never have issues. No eye strain, fatigue or any of the sort. The only issue I get is the lack of mobility in my legs from sitting on my a** all day. And also... extended periods of HDR brightness can potentially lead to eye strain, especially in dim lit rooms.

At an actual measurement from the time of writing, since I have a tape measure currently on the desk, im just under 50cm away from the screen.

Anyways... going back on topic. It will be quite hilarious if AOC or whoever the other brand was beats ASUS to market with their dual monitor. Since both are claiming world first.

Needless to say, from a personal preference, I still dont see the interest in 4k. All it would do for me over my UWHD 1440p is tank my frames. I know 4k looks good, no one needs to try and sell me on that, its just I am not interested in it whatsoever.
