ASUS Strix X99 Gaming Preview

This isn't one of the first of the new (refresh) 2011-3 motherboard i know that the CPU is still the same.

I looked through the write up i didn't see anything unless i wasn't looking correctly.

Hey Tom thanks for the preview, are the USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Type-C?Also I am sure you are under NDA for pricing but will this be on Asus X99-Pro side or the Asu X99-Deluxe in terms of pricing?

I was hoping for a micro-ATX board. Guess I can toss that idea out the window hehe. Will have to settle for X99-M WS/SE, at least this one has a clean look about it.

Asus seem to have confused branding, Strix branding on the left and a ROG logo on the bottom right of the mobo.

So which is it ? A Strix or ROG product ? ^_^

I like the orange of the highlights... and that is about it. What is is that below the CPU socket? A Republic of Gamers logo. Bad enough this confuses the branding but it lights up and draws attention to the confusion. It doesn't appear to be straight either. Speaking of straight, that heatsink to the right of the PCI-E slots looks as though it is slumping right. The logo on it... the same logo we see on other stuff; but here it pops out as being half an owl face. Half. Reduce it to 90% and add the left side already.

It is pretty much only aesthetics that differentiate Asus boards from on another. The aesthetics here are not only just sloppy enough to be really, really annoying; but they seem to be neither one thing or another.

What is it with the 4 different USB sockets? If 3.1 is backwards compatible, can't we lose the legacy lunacy?

Lastly, and this is even Asus let alone Strix specific but every review of memory I see lately seems to bemoan the twenty-four pin cable obscuring the sticks. It would seem obvious since the cable is fed to the rear anyway to rotate the socket 90 - 180 degrees.

Yep ^_^

Next it will be a ROG Strix Rampage Deluxe Crossblade Professional Extreme Sabertooth Crosshair motherboard XD

Remind me again why Asrock was spun off. Now Asrock have moved into high-end territory maybe Asus are travelling in the opposite direction. Should we keep a weather-eye for their stuff blowing up now?:D
