ASUS Strix Soundcard Range Review

For games I've found the Corsair Void 7.1 does an amazing job and it's actually incredibly hard to tell the difference between it and my Aune T1 MK2 + DT990 Pro Pro 250 Ohm's which just goes to show how good a job Corsair did on the Void.

For music and movies though the Void is lightyears behind the Aune T1 MK2 + 990 Pro 250 Ohm.

I hate playing games with a onboard sound/soundcard now for me a Ext sound is way better.

I think your ears are broken!

I agree lol

No they aren't I just don't fall for the placebo BS.

I've used the Corsair headset, and dude its terrible! Mic is so poor you might as well not speak, the actual audio quality is about the same as those bundled earphones you get when you buy a new phone...

VOID wasnt the one you used here dude?

You used the 1500's here iirc. Old 3.5mm jack ones.

Ahh was it not, my bad, i thought it was the VOID i used

The Void 7.1 USB is a surprisingly good headset, I was quite surprised with my daily driver being the 990 and Aune and honestly in 99% of things ingame not being able to tell the difference but as I said it's weak points are definitely music and movies which the 990+Aune knock the Void out of the water and into another dimension in that regard.

As with every Corsair headset ever it's probably no better than anything Plantronics/seinheiser/some random Chinese OEM has made for half/less the price. guessing its pretty comfy though?

Why is it so difficult to hear "Corsair/Asus etc... made a good headset" for so many people ?

I'll repeat again, Ingames the difference between the Void 7.1 and my Aune+990 is incredibly minuscule, And again no I do not have hearing problems.

Comfort wise they are no more or less comfy than my 990's although the earpads do feel a bit more rough compared to the 990's.

For standalone music and movies though the Void is lacking.

I know Sound is subjective but I bought the void 7.1 and its not "that" good. It is just an average headset with a mic. And I only bought it for the convenience of better sound over my crappy Razer headset and the fact it has a mic.

Product quality is great, sound quality is very average.

And those 5 default profiles should be deleted! they are awful.

As far as gaming headsets go it's better than most. And bass does provide a nice fps experience. But as Dice said for music and movies it's a bit crap.

But why would you use the VOID for that purpose anyway. As for the mic on it. It's pretty decent. Just sucks that it makes me realise how Welsh I sound... :(

I picked up the wireless one and battery life is outstanding. I just wish sound quality was a little better. For the price I paid I can't complain and I am satisfied. I installed a nice little piece of software to swap output from headset to speakers while in game etc with a quick button push and I have a cushy little setup now.

Because for the most part the headsets they sell are not that good compared (audio quality, mic quality) to the competition (excluding Razer I'd imagine haha) in many peoples eyes, especially at certain price points. I personally have never liked the audio quality of Corsair products and I've had a huge variety of headsets over a short period of time so I'd feel its the one area in audio I can have a pretty solid basis to form an opinion on. One thing Corsair do consistently get right though is comfort.

So excuse me for having disbelief yeah? ;)

But most doesnt qualify as all right? ;)

What games?

I had the Cooler Master Storm Pulse R headset and I used to think wow! and I still stand by them, they have amazing sound quality but the mic sucked. (heavy as hell for long gaming sessions too).

Since moving to the Sennheiser HD518 phones with Fiio DAC and Samson Meteor mic it's like nothing else, the difference between the headset and dedicated setup is just day and night and like I said there is nothing wrong with the CM headset they sound amazing.

Only way I can truly explain it:

Headset = iPod MP3 style.
Dedicated = being at the concert.
