Any Audiophile will know that not much can beat a good soundcard, so how do ASUS' new Strix series of soundcards stack up?

-1 Enthusiast point.

Plus One, need to be ROG. LOL

Personally, I would like to see ASUS release the Raid Deluxe without the external Raid box. That box adds quite a bit to the cost. The cards are great as a starting point, much better than having nothing to enhance your audio, be it a soundcard or external dac.

yeah but for like 50 bucks you get a Fiio e10 which will stuff 90% of someones need. Unless you want to 7.1 but then again there are better solutions.

that's a lot of monies for mediocre chips and caps...

Exactly! If you have a ROG board already that has the supremeFX asus chips you don't need to spend any money on a sound card unless you have a pair of HD700+ or T-90 or Audeze LCD or some really high end monitors and for those things you would have to spend A LOT more for something that is external and not an add-in card... or the sound card on your motherboard introduces noise.

lol wtf?

Xonar's were a kind of no-nonsense thing, and were the Creative beaters, and now we've got Red Tazo's stuck on to some Michael Bay crap.. Asus.. why?

Because it fits so flawlessly into the whole strix line up.

Swear hardware manufacturers have gone mad!

I mean who can even find that remotely appealing, not to mention the colour schemes....doesn't match the range!!

Either way i like audio, i'd like to think i know a thing or two, so id be interested in a detailed review, see how these perform and how well they're built.

Don't you mean Completely Mad ^_^

Yep, A DAC or a Mixer FTW

For games I've found the Corsair Void 7.1 does an amazing job and it's actually incredibly hard to tell the difference between it and my Aune T1 MK2 + DT990 Pro Pro 250 Ohm's which just goes to show how good a job Corsair did on the Void.

For music and movies though the Void is lightyears behind the Aune T1 MK2 + 990 Pro 250 Ohm.

I think your ears are broken!
