Asus RoG Xonar Phoebus or Onboard?

Firstly hello to all as it is my first post and as it is 8.13am good morning.

Right, my question is . . I have a new Onkyo TX-NR616 home cinema amp. Now it has no analogue inputs, Toslink and Coaxial are my options. I am running a Gigabyte Z77x-UD5 mobo via toslink to the amp for sound. I hardly ever wear headphones for gaming.

Now, I have a bit of cash spare and have been looking at the Asus RoG Xonar Phoebus. I understand that it's full capability is unleashed with analogue and headphones but would it be worth me considering it for my current setup?

Thanks in advance

Chris

ABSOLUTELY! I don't say this about a lot of things but the Phoebes offers a HUGE bang for the buck, at least here in the USA it does at only $180. Sure it has a few bells and whistles a lot of people would never use, but $180 is a phenomenal deal for what it offers.

Maybe he should get an "all-rounder" card. Phoebes is a gaming card?
