Asus ROG Ares III Dual 290X Watercooled GPU

At last a 295X2 done right !!!

Some of the recent Asus dual cards have been crap but this one looks like the real deal with three 8 pin power connectors as well.

My one problem with this card is it should have come with 8gb of VRAM per GPU. Having used 290Xs @4K the number of times they run out of VRAM is very annoying indeed.

Just out of curiosity, would 3 display ports have been a better option? With HDMI 2.0 not coming out any time soon, surely 3 display ports would be better for anyone who is crazy enough to try and run three 4k monitors.

With only 4gb of VRAM per GPU it is a real pain tying to use a single 4K monitor let alone three.:)

Simply lovely - really interested to see it in a rig to see what "bits and bobs" light up. One can only dream though. Fantasy for me because of what I expect the price will be.

Dreaming of Rampage V, 2 Ares III . . .

2 of these in your Rig would sure put you in the top 10 on 3DMark Hall of Fame. ;)

All joking aside, why only put one DP port on a card like this. I would much rather have had two of those, and done away with an HDMI port, unless its the newest version.

It is 4 290x's? lol

I'm trying to say with their own individual power circuitry and cooling. I guess if the Ares III is cherry picked to death they have no chance on water though. I mean for a 3dmark run not real life i'd sooner be armed with 4 swag overclocking cards and some LN2 than two Ares. Unless there was a 'stock cooling only' option I don't see how these would top 10 anything.

4 single cards will always top a pair of dual cards.:)

Also if the single cards are anything to go by this new Ares III will get very hot indeed on water if you start putting big volts through it.
