what I'd like to know if the reviewers who gets review samples are actually aware of this trick
Nope they are all bumbling newbs with zero grasp of fan curves, profiles or Overclocking. I've really no idea why we watch them.. :p

While it is clear that ASUS is not giving reviewers more performance than is available on retail GPUs, they did not give reviewers foreknowledge of the differences between press and review samples in advance.

Could've read the article you know.
But also that:

Don't really understand why you're so grumpy lately and like "attacking" everyone.

Maybe he didn't get it when he read it, like I do at times as well... Even though it's IN the article.

We're all just humans dude, relax...

Consider it constructive criticism, next time he'll read the article (again) before posting a redundant question.

I see why people are mad that reviewers weren't aware. But in reality the extra 26mhz really isn't going to change anything... Now I mean if it was 200mhz sure, but really even then you wouldn't get that much ahead.

yes, I read the article but this wasn't specifically aimed at OC3D but the HW review media

as for "it wasn't a cheat" .. PCGamesHardware.de has discvered their review sample of MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G had increased power limit over the retail version - and the power limit can't be altered with the OC software

and there is the matter if you used these cards in Linux - the OC software is unavailable
