ASUS Rampage IV Formula vs ASUS Maximus IV Extreme Z

Well they are completely different sockets, so you'll need different CPU's for each motherboard. The Rampage uses the 2011 Socket, while the Maximus uses the 1155 socket. You cant really compare the boards alone. The 2500K is regarded as the best gaming processor, you'll need a 1155 socket mobo( P67 or Z68 chipset). Wait a few weeks, buy a Z77 board and the 2500k equivalent and you won't go wrong.

Why is everyone saying wait for Ivy?he only reason I can see is a price drop on sandy Z77 has nothing new that I can see that would benefit from the wait no new Sata 3 or USB 3.0 PCIE 3.0 is a gimmick at them moment as nothing saturates PCIE 2.0 and deosnt look like anything will in the near future? So whats the point?10% performance increase over sandy but much more expensive?

Im not buying Ivy but I am waiting for Ivy to be released for prices on Sandy to drop I honestly dont see the big hulabaloo over Ivy or why everyone keeps recommending it TBH

Prices have already started dropping on sandy brige and z68 MBs, soon cheap gaming systems will be avalible to all!!

I bought a Maximus IV Extreme Z back in december along with an i7 2600K. I got some really nice OC with that config, reaching 5.65GHz @ 1.54v. I have always wondered though, what's the big difference between ASUS formula boards and Maximus boards?

Do you mean the Rampage Boards and the Maximus Boards mate??? The Rampage boards always support the current enthusiast chipset and Maximus Support the mainstream chipset. In the current case Rampage 4 Ex X79 and Max 4 Formula next Z77 board
