ASUS RAMPAGE II RAM issue

Hi guys just got a Rampage II for my i7 and it is only showing 4gb in BIOS and Windows, yest CPUZ shows 6gb and Speccy shows 6g but 4 usable.

What gives? I have updated to the most recent BIOS also and tried the ram in different slots middle on is the the culprit it seems

What version of Windows are you using? 32 or 64-bit?

I ran into this problem with a mates build with a gigabyte board a while back and found this list LINKY

But in the end this ended up working for us (He upgraded to 12 gig at a later point and that kit worked fine by unticking the box again and letting it do it its self for some reason).

In the run bar on the start menu type in "msconfig" and hit enter.

That should bring up the system config box.

Open the BOOT tab then select advanced options.

Another box pops up and you will see maximum memory, tick that box and make sure it says "6144" in it then hit ok and reboot.

Ive also seen something about a bios setting but that may have been with when they were trying to run like 32gb ram and only 20 being useable so dont hold me to it....
