ASUS ProArt X570-Creator WiFi Review

Hi, I don't suppose you tested what happens if you put an M.2 drive in the second slot (bottom left) did you? As tghe manual is a bit ambiguous. It says if you have a GPU in the second PCI-E slot then the top slot drops to x8, and it says if you also have an M.2 drive in M.2_2 then the top PCI-E slot will be x8 and the second slot x4, but it doesn't say what the top PCI-E slot will run at if there's no GPU in the second PCI-E slot and an M.2 in M.2_2, does it still drop to x8?

Basically can you use all three M.2 slots without sacrificing GPU bandwidth.
 
The first m.2 slot is running off of the CPUs extra x4 lanes, though limited to PCIe 4.0. The rest are off the chipset which provides 12 lanes of 4.0.

The other dedicated PCIe 5.0 lanes are 1x16 for either GPU or SSD, or 2x8. That's how the CPUs are set up so I would guess it works. Idk if Asus would change it especially on such a premium nice board.
 
I have a X570 TUF. I have two NVME 1tb drives in it. As well as a sound card. And my GPU still gets 16 lanes.

It is confusing, but Ryzen gets extra lanes from the PCH. I felt really stupid, because I only populated one SSD slot thinking I would have my GPU at x8.

Now that is a pretty mobo !

Yup. Really nice. Seems they're taking a leaf from Gigabyte's Designaire book. Which is good.

Hi, thanks but I got a message back form ASUS, the second M.2 slot does indeed share bandwidth with the first and second x16 slots, so if an M.2 card is installed in the second M.2 slot then the first x16 slot will drop to x8 (as there's only x12 left to work with for the shared slots). Running the first x16 slot at x16 requires only using the first and third M.2 slots.
