I wanted to know if asus' turbo v evo, bt go and efi bios had any added advantages over gigabyte's straightforward bios overclocking.I've also hear that updating a bios in the gigabyte mb has its own set of problems...

I can't speak about the Gigabyte board because I have never used it, but here is Tom's review along with the video review on the last page so that should explain anything you need to know.

As for the Asus board, I have a P8P67. The UEFI BIOS doesn't really add that much to be honest it's mainly just made easier to use and doesn't look like a Linux distro. It does however offer faster boot times and supports 3TB HDDs. Turbo Evo is ok for auto overclocking but it is still best to manually overclock yourself, BT Go I don't like, had a play with it, didn't like it so I uninstalled it.

Overclocking wise the UEFI, aswell as the Turbo V are just gimmicks, that don't add any more performance that you wouldn't be able to achieve on the Gigabyte. I own the P8P67 Deluxe myself. The motherboard is great, I like it, but the UD7 looks like a better clocker with the drawback of it being more expensive.

Most mobos are capable of maxing retail cpu's. its only people wanting silly chip ending clocks and voltages that will notice a difference

There really is no advantage with the UEFI bios, it would be nice to see it on the UD7 but that doesn’t give competitive motherboards an edge over gigabyte. If you want to overclock do it yourself it’s the best way to do it and you will enjoy some time with your board

what is your opinion in terms of energy efficiency and successful bios update???

Neways, thanks guys for all your expertise.

Don't see any reason a BIOS update would go wrong with either one. I think they both have dual BIOS chips and in terms of energy efficiency both have their own technologies for that. However if you are buying a overclocking oriented board, I wouldn't say energy efficiency should be at/near the top of your checklist

From my personal experiences of the P67 Boards, although I love Gigabyte, they come 3rd to Asus and MSI in terms of pure raw overclocking. Most boards are capable of 4.8GHz stable OCs (chip pending), its only when your pushing past 5GHz that certain boards stand out from others. For me that's MSI. I know they are not getting as good reviews compared to their Asus & GB counterparts, but from my POV, they are the best.
