all help is appreciated.

Are the Intel and Marvel raid chips updated with bios updates?

If not how do I go about updating them?

I am currently using bios version 3402 - the latest as far as i know.

Do i do a secure erase before I raid or after I raid the drives?

Is there a quick guide on how I can raid using the Marvel controller on this board that anyone knows off?

Many thanks as usual, Luke

what are you planning on raiding on the marvell chipset?? if its your boot dont bother use the intel. if its for storage again dont bother do it from within windows. yes the firmware for the different raids are updated with bios if there is an update to be had. Outside of that its all software and drivers. you can not secure erase a raid setup most ssd'd need to be out of raid to clean them.

Hello man, thanks for the reply, I have my boot SSD on the Intel. Its for my games really i bought another 2 SSD's to store my games and want to run them in raid 0? I thought that since I used the Intel (more reliable) for my boot, I could use the marvel controller for the games, why is it you dont recommend this? many thanks, Luke

the intel controller is just the better option. you wont see any major speed difference with a raided game storage array. but It'll be fun to see what it does lol I'd just rad them thru windows thru the disk management in the control panel

sorry about my lack of raid knowledge, but i thought its more reliable to use marvel than the wdm ? thanks.

I've used the windows raid for a 4x 640gb WD Black array once and it was very dependable and fast your still using the marvell controller its just a software raid vs a hardware raid plus having it on the hardware side of the bios will slow boot a few seconds.

boot time isn't really a factor to me, power on in the morning shut down at night, Im just un decided on what method to go for now :P
