Damm. I want 2 now!

Looking to major update of my H440 rig thats sitting idle right now. Two of those would be mighty good.

I'd rather have no block at all than have this Playmobil piece of RGB'nes dangling off of this card and be worried that some slow kindergarten kids try and shove it up it's nose.

Also who from Asus was the one accepting the design for the RED brace on the back for a RGB card? They could have done so well with something fitting the Maximus boards but completely rekt themselves by playing with too much Playmobil apparently.

ehhhhh

Not gonna lie this looks ugly as hell I hope its greatly refined before release please don't try to sell this

That's not too bad considering the price of a full cover block. I don't love the cutout for the logo on the front but it's certainly not offensive. I would prefer if it was reversed so the eyes and nose were illuminated by the cutout.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more GPUs come out with a block already attached.

I do think that ASUS should have made that red brace grey.

it is a similar mistake to the ASUS Maximus VIII Hero and above boards, with red highlights that ruin the usefulness of the RGB features.

What about motherboards with the CPU cooler already attached?

Clearly you'd have to remove it to put the CPU in so no that's not the same thing. Not everyone has the time, ability, resources or desire to start taking their expensive components apart. A lot of you do and that's great. Companies have to market to more than the top 1% though.

I think it's not a bad strategy - they have the Air cooled range, which you can block if you want. They have the Poseidon range which give you the option for both air or water if you want to go down that route later or you have this if you just want a plug and play option.

They're not going to please everyone but that's life and yes you could have a nicer aesthetic if you went full custom components in your builds.

As you know here there will be a $500 or more mark up so i think this card will be about $1400-$1500 or even more cause being ASUS.

There is also EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti HYDRO COPPER GAMING i think that has a full block on it.

Plus i really don't like the lighting on it.

Oh yeah with the Australia Tax it won't be cheap. I do like the Hydro Copper as well. Like I said it's not going to be for everyone but I like the idea of being able to choose a card that is blocked and ready to run with virtually zero risk of stuffing it up for a newbie. Especially for those considering an expandable AIO as a starting point.

If you don't have the time/ability/resources to fit a GPU block to a card then you don't have the time to build a loop to put one in, or mount your CPU cooler. It's not as if the card is supplied with a block, filled with QDC's ready to go into a 360 predator. It doesn't eliminate the pre-requisite of any skills or resources at all.

The air cooled range makes perfect sense, and so does an AIO cooled for the manufacturer's which have them. I can't see the point in hybrid designs like the Poseidon or pre-blocked solutions like this.

An addition which might make some sense would be a reduced cost OEM style card supplied with no cooler at all and greatly reduced packaging.

The only reason I can see as to why someone would opt for it would be if it had an exclusive and desirable block like the last ARES or because they think they would have otherwise invalidated their warranty. Which for most manufacturers isn't the case.

Valid points but they've made it. They also made motherboards with WC fittings in the Northbridge such as the Maximus VIII Formula you could make the same arguments for and against.

Pre-attached blocks are just one less thing to worry about and a bit of a convenience. You're correct warranty is usually honoured if you have had the cooler off a card but if you damage it whilst doing it - that's probably another story.

This thing is ugly in my opinion. The lighting reverberates through the block quite poorly for one, the read "square" on the back reminds me of a knock off attempt at the Soundblaster cards.

What happened to the days of tasteful minimalist looks :(

I agree, It doesn't look that good for a ASUS product

Damn that's ugly! The block I can live with, even the red accent on the bracket. But full glowing block ..... No Asus, just NO!
