ASUS has just announced their GTX 980Ti Poseidon GPU. Are you ready for some DCU H2O Action?

One of these and an EK Predator or similar expandable AIO and you've got a simple low maintenance loop.

why are people still expecting anything from this card, the premium it costs is just unreasonable, the water block won't be as good as a proper aftermarket block like from EK or aquacomputer and the air cooler will suffer from the water block in there. just get a decent air cooled card and of you want to watercool down the line get a block with the money you saved from not getting the poseidon.

Agree to a certain extent - there will always be gains made by going fully custom loop but I think this type of card is targeted at people that don't want to be taking cards apart or who want to have the option of adding it to an expandable AIO solution. Other options like the Fury X or the EVGA 980ti Hybrid are similar except they have a closed loop 120mm rad/pump.

I think it's about offering options.

From recollection I think the fans still work in conjunction with the waterblock but due to the blocks efficiency (when in use) they should run slower and therefore be pretty quiet.

Nobody sells motherboards pre-equipped with a mutant H100, D14 with no pump or radiator. That would be preposterously stupid. I don't see the difference.

At a time when people were unsure of how GPU warranties would be affected by blocks it makes sense, but now GPU manufacturer's openly don't care I really can't understand it's place. Mounting a GPU block is easier than building and bleeding a loop. It makes sense at a price, but it's almost certain that it will cost more than that.

I guess the market will determine it's viability. I can see a place for it - it's not for me - but I can see where people will use it. Some motherboards like the Maximus V Formula came with the barbs attached as well. Then there are things like the EK Predator. There must be some kind of demand or the R&D would be cost prohibitive.

Mutant H100. I like that. :)

Edit - Also could be handy if you have one good card (980ti) that you switch out of your home rig with loop to your mATX LAN Box for carting over to a mates place.
