ASUS announce their new PG35VQ HDR 21:9 200Hz display

Correct me if im wrong but there is a 16:9 HDR 4K Gsync, 120Hz(?) coming out aswell right? -What's the code for that again?

Im definitely looking for an ultrawide for my next upgrade/monitor purchase.

I need this

I don't get the point of this display. Yes all those spec sound epic on the box, but... What hardware can run new AAA games on 3440x1440 and 200Hz??? I don't think they will sell many of these. And they will probably suffer as PG279Q did on launch.

Edit: They should be focused on putting more 2560x1440 displays on the market.

Please, I'll buy this for my main rig, and will possible end up buying this for my living room pc that my company/friends use eventually. If not, I'll buy this definitely for me, then buy a PG348Q to put in the living room. Achieving close to, and including 100hz on new games isn't terribly difficult when you rock things like a Titan Xp or 1080 Ti. And with more competition and progress, something like this with a 200hz refresh rate will be very nice and a welcomed addition with new hardware coming out.

I'm extremely excited for this. Only thing I need now is ASUS 4k HDR 144hz monitor so I can truly enjoy netflix.

lol

I can't tell whether you're trolling or not...

I mean the only troll part was the 4k HDR 144hz monitor for netflix. I do plan on picking up a 4k HDR monitor, but it'll be for more than just netflix. Outside of that, nope... I'm very much looking forward to all of these new monitors and have full intentions on buying them.

Yeah, it was the 4k Netflix bit. But in tandem with everything else. Two PG35VQ's is pretty bold, but along with a 4k/120Hz just for Netflix is taking the cake. :p

I mean, I want a 4K HDR display for viewing media while I'm gaming and what not. That will make up probably 50% of it's usage. The other bit will be for it's real estate when I'm doing other tasks when not gaming.

I love ultra wide. The only complaint I legit have about it, is Overwatch's refusal to use it. Outside of that, I think it is a dream resolution/aspect ratio. It was honestly original between ASUS new 4k HDR 144hz monitor that comes out later this year or their PG348Q. But now that this variant is coming out, the decision has been made. To each their own I guess (budget and taste in consideration). But for me... this monitor sounds absolutely perfect.

Why? There's boat loads of 2560x1440 options out there... As a Predator X34 owner, I'm very interested in this, though I'd prefer a 38", 3840x1600 version.

I'd love to have one of these they look amazing and if they perform as well as my Swift then it'd be great indeed

Pretty cool but never touching a ROG monitor ever again, Some of the worst quality control I've ever come across.

I totally agree with you that they should still serve the main market and this is 2560x1440 right now.

But I totally disagree with you that this model with the 200Hz is totally unnecessary. I think they did everything right with the PG35QV and I didn’t expect that they release a PG348Q replacement this soon. My only concerns are, that this is a VA Panel and not an IPS Panel. But I think even if Asus chose VA, they wouldn't do it if it doesn't perform at least as good as the PG348Q.
I bought my PG348Q two months ago and I read something that Asus already showed their lineup for 2017 with the 4k HDR 27” PG27UQ and won’t release a replacement for the PG348Q in 2017.

I guess the PG35VQ will be in the 2000 USD area. And if I buy a monitor >1000 USD range I don’t buy this to replace it in the next 1 or 2 years.

I am able to run most games with 3440x1440p and Ultra settings at around 70 to 100 FPS. Sometimes I have to play with the games resolution scale to let’s say 80% of the original resolution, but that is totally acceptable.

And I expect that it won’t take so long until running games in 4k with more than 100 FPS is possible.

Best,
Chris

I'm actually getting more and more sold on this, might even pull the trigger down the road and test my luck regarding ROG's poor quality controls...

Have Asus actually given a release date for this yet? Going to buy a monitor before the end of the year and it is looking like the pg348q unless this one is around to consider also.

I would guess q1 2018 as they put back the 27uq till then earlier in the year , some on rog web site are saying maybe as late as q2 2018 , but you can never guess whats going on

That a shame, really not sure which way to go now, buy the pg348q or wait on the pg35vq, in all honesty I really do not no enough on the subject of monitors to know which choice to make for the best, I can only see the drawbacks in each decision.
