The monitor features a narrow 6mm bezel (perfect for surround), an ultra low input lag of 1ms, 120+ refresh rates and Nvidia's G-Sync technology.

The suggested price of this monitor is $799.

Is this IPS or TN panel? Resolution says IPS but input lag says TN. Whichever it is it looks amazing.

OH MA GAD! This is my next monitor!

Err just a question, is it IPS/PLS?

Edit:
I swear down, some time ago when i was researching into monitors, i read somewhere that it was not possible to make IPS/PLS as fast as TN. Is this true? and therefore this is a TN panel?

Finally, something for my 2x GTX 780 Ti rig to stretch its legs on. I will be getting one for sure, but...

First, it IS A TN PANEL. JJ says it himself. Secondly, it only has DisplayPort so those that are hoping to run 3 of them in Surround will be out of luck unless they have at least a tri-SLI rig as all GeForce cards have only one DP. But for those two shortcomings it is the first WQHD to natively support 120 hz, no strings attached. And then theres g-sync, something all gaming monitors should have, FreeSync be damned.

First ROG product I'd actually buy. Shame about the G Sync otherwise I'd pre order and start stocking up on 280xs ^_^.

Rather moot considering the slew of up and coming 28" 4k monitors for under $1000 USD (possible freesync).

1440p so last year!

yeah but look at how much it'll cost to get excellent framerates with 4k :l. I'm not too plussed about buying three 'cards for the job.

I love how in the states it's going to be $799 and in the UK we'll probably pay, Wait for it.....£799 lol, What a ripoff country.

I'm hoping for FreeSync enabled 4k monitors  after reading the article here and the link in the thread to anandtechs write up, I'm very excited with such possible prospect.

Granted I agree at least taking the situation as it is [no FreeSync/G-Sync 4k panels], needing a lot of high end gear to power 4k gaming [currently] is a costly investment. But consider how long 1080p has been around and still will be, my guess it's been 2007 onwards, 4k will be around for a long while yet. Even without the clout to play at 4k, purchasing a 4k monitor and simply scaling down the resolution till one's PC can push out 4k makes for a better investment? That's why I feel this monitor in debate, at least spec wise, is rather moot.

However I really would love monitors to look more like this Asus one, my it's a beauty ^_^

Please, I'm feeling good atm... don't down my spirits :(

I dunno if i'd be able to go back to a TN after having used an IPS. I love the viewing angles and colour pop you get with an IPS. Does anyone know how fast a refresh rate an IPS is capable of?

There is no point in that, the time 4K capable hardware at a reasonable price comes about, there will be better 4K monitors about, faster, better colours, better looking and so on and you'll be stuck with the first generation of old rubbish.

I can't disagree with your point in principle (cheaper is better), only I disagree about waiting till that happens. How long will that be? Maxwell/Pirate Islands or the next iteration? What is a reasonable price? By the time its well within the mainstream there will be something new, 8k Oculus Rift or something crazy. Can DP even carry a 4k 120hz signal?

A 120hz 4k panel would be the case in which waiting on 4k would be better imo, but I don't see it happening. Will two theoretical nvidia gtx 880's push 120 fps @4k? Doubtful. In any case if it does get 'cheap' I'd just upgrade. I have a 1080p monitor from ~5 years back still in use. Still as good today as it was when I purchased it.

I'd rather enjoy 4k than wait and read about everyone else enjoying it is what it boils down to. And since with the upcoming release of <$1000 USD 4k panels it's now within the purchasing power of PC enthusiasts and not just high-rolling fatcats!
