Remember that the memory needs to be shared between the GPU and CPU, so 24GB in total is equivalent to 16GB of system RAM and an 8GB GPU. There are many games that can have issues with 16GB PC handhelds without memory-related settings tinkering.
24GB makes a lot of sense upgrade-wise. There's a reason why ASUS' original 24GB ROG Ally X exists.
