3rd party Steam Decks? SteamOS update hints at official ASUS ROG Ally support

I'd really like it if Valve released a desktop version of SteamOS that is centered purely around gaming to get the absolute most out of your hardware.
 
I would suggest trying Ubuntu or a derivative of that. I use PopOS on my laptops. Download steam, install Proton experimental, play games and tell them to launch using Proton and works pretty darn well. Take a spare drive and install it then try using it for a while. You might enjoy it.

In the future if Valve did release a gaming centered OS with minor basic computer functions I do think it would be a massive success. Hopefully they follow your idea.

It's a good decision, but until Developers start to support Linux we will have to rely on the likes of Proton etc.

DirectX needs to be added to Linux, no excuse not to these days just pure greed!
