did you watch the entire video? there are several games. tomb raider ... crysis.. metro...batman.. bioshack.. hitman.. sleeping dogs and those are just whats in the video
More of a fact for most. Over 5000$ for a monitor and then adding 3000$ worth of titans? That's $8k just for 2 pieces of hardware with many other pieces missing. Let alone needing the 2011 Xtreme cpus just to keep up with 3 titans and that res.
Having seen 4k res in the flesh (as it were) in a 'high-end' electronics store, it's definitely worth it. I'd bet mid 2014 when 4k monitors and appropriate GPU's will become more available & accessible for the enthusiast (and within an appreciable budget).
I'd skip 1440p and save up for 4k IMO (and that's what I'm doing personally). Get those tins of beans in stock
who said i was running 3 titans? i just posted the video of it. 5k for the monitor were did you get that ? did you price the sharp? retail on the monitor is 3995$. so far your about 2000$ off. No need for socket 2011 for SLI so your another 500-700s off. if you want a cheapo 4k monitor look at the sieki.. but there garbage and id run 1440 before i ran that. what resolution do you run?

I love what your trying to do here, spend money and it sounds like your even better than me at it! But I think your nuts if you don't go for an X79 with potential for tri and quad SLI otherwise when you have found you hit the horsepower barrier you have nowhere to go.
Also would vram be such a big deal as people are making out? 3GB can handle 5760 and thats only a little smaller, the frame buffer is only a smallish part of the memory used, ie if you use 2gb at 1080p you certainly aren't going to need 8gb at 4k. Because you wouldn't need any AA at that pixel density then that will save a bunch of vram. Idk still a newb tbf.
