Not really.

I've heard good things about them for regular gamers. Not for overclocking...but that's self explanitory.

There is no, "Bad mobo."

All mobo's are good mobo's for regular use.

Yes, even PC Chips.

I'm sorry but you can't expect to ask about these motherboards on a modding an overclocking foprum and not get "pretty crappy"

asus branded mobos are the top of the range in asus category

asustek are next

asrock are shite

when even the top branded ones tend to suck, you wont have much luck with the bottom of the line

If it's for a compy that folds, or for a user that surfs the web, checks email, copy's DVD's, any mobo is fine.

Overclockability wise, they SUCK.

nick you dont seem to understand that not every mobo does its job perfectly. cheap motherboards have compatibility issues, voltage problems, stability issues and poor chipsets. the motherboard holds everything together and its worth getting a good one.

IMHO ASRock boards are good if u need a stable stock machine that lacks the latest features .. as for overclocking.... i got one f the first newcastle cored 3000+ A64s to slihtly less than 2.4 usin it and some el cheapo ram

Cheap Mobos dont affect the performance of A64 machines as much as they degrade P4 performance ... basically the lack of northbridge in A64 rigs means that cheap NB chips cant hinder performance

Agreed... some boards don't perform well at stock, let alone acting as a performance based board.

PC Chips - suck ass stock mainboards

Asrock - suck ass stock mainboards

Foxconn - suck ass stock mainboards

The list goes on, hehe.

great explanation. especially when a mobo has a sucka$$ SIS Chipset ;)

sadly you get what you pay for

Indeed. just replaced my aging and rather flakey socket a mb with a used asus a7n8x-e deluxe which i'd found for the bargain price of £15. Worked for a day, doesn't even post now. Think i will spend a bit more this time around. Oh well, at least i can RMA the thing.

Well my Asrock 939Duel has been excellent for the very low price. They say you get what you pay for but I think I got more than what i payed for. I can keep my AGP x800pro until it cant run the latest games next year then buy a new PCI-E card without changing motherboard. It also allowed me to overclock my opteron 146 up there with the big boys, DFI, Epox etc.

i wouldnt use it in my rig.. so therefore its pretty crap! however i recently put one into a basic machine i was building for someone else, i agree with the saying ' u get what u pay for ' if your going to use cheap parts expect problems!

In my last rig I bought an abit IC7-max3 for £150 which was supposed to be the bomb for overclocking P4's . Turned out most of them had a memory voltage problem over 2.8v not great for my BH5 sticks

Thought Id try the budget route and so far so good.
