Tell me how you got it so high I'm new at O/C what did u do step by step please if you don't mind
Im quite new to AMD64 overclocking myself but heres what i do.
-Press F2 on startup to go into Bios
-Goto advanced then Cpu configuration
-Set Overclocking mode to CPU,PCIE Async
-Set Cool and quiet to Disabled,
-Set multiplier/voltage to manual
-Set processor voltage to 1.45 (max)
-Set memory clock to 133 for now.
-Press Escape to go back and goto into Chipset congiuration menu
-Set AGP fast write to disabled for now
-Set CPU NB link speed to 800 for now
-Set NB SB link speed to 800 also for now
-Press Escape to go back and go back to into Cpu configuration menu
Heres were we start overclocking by increasing the CPU frequency ( FSB)
Highlight it then press enter , then type in the value you want.
Try 220 for now and press enter to save. Press F10 and ok to restart your system.
Heres a quick explaination of what the settings do.
As you have a Opteron 148, you have a multiplier of x11 so this will then set your processor speed to 220x11 = 2420Mhz.
The CPU NB link speed and NB SB link speed set to 800, id we divide this value by 200 it is really a multiplier of x4, If you set it to 600 its x3. With this set to 800 and our overclock of 220 we get 220*4 = 880, apparantly we want a value between 800 and 1000 so 880 is fine.
Important - If/When you set your CPU frequency to 267 or above, you will need to reduce the CPU NB link speedand NB SB link speed to 600 (x3) . Which will mean you have 267*3 = 801 which again is between 800 and 1000 so is fine.
We set the memory clock to 133 for now just so we know its not your memory causing problems, the setting 133 should be (220/200*133 - 146.3Mhz) but on this Asrock board it is incorrect and is actually your cpu speed/15, so in our case 2420/15 =161Mhz. If you set the memory clock to 166 then it is your cpu speed/12 so it would be 2420/12 = 201Mhz. Im not sure what spec your memory is but if its not rated above 200Mhz this may be a problem. Also as Kronus mentioned above, your 2 different memory stick will proberbly be a problem. Maybe remove the 512mb stick for now.
You need to increase your Cpu frequency in steps then run prime95 (
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=103) to test for stablilty after each increase. Leave it running for a couple of hours. Also I recommend a program to monitor your cpu temperatures as you test. I use Everest (
http://www.lavalys.com) or speedan (
http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php). You dont want tempteratures ideally going above 55deg under full load. Some say 60.
When you have settled on a speed you want to keep you should really be able to run prime in the blend torture test for 12 hours for full stability.
I my have missed some things, but this should get you going.
