"Autonomous sensory meridian response" (ASMR) is a neologism for an alleged biological phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli. Tom Stafford, a professor at the University of Sheffield, says, "It might well be a real thing, but it's inherently difficult to research."

I thought those tingling sensations when listening to music was a well known thing? I get them all the time listening to music. Not as much as when I was younger but I still get them every now and then.

You referring to when you get a really good bit of the song and it just makes you kinda shiver a little? I thought that was a dopamine response.

I have it quite mild but i dont mind it, me and my girlfriend were just talking about it and then we were curious so i researched it and i found out its called ASMR. I get it when i watch tutorials, when people whisper, when i hear computer related noise, especially when i turn my pc on. Its so weird and i have never really thought much of it.

Strange, a friend of mine is going through the same kinda thing. He's known that he's had something for ages, but he only sought to look it up a few days ago. Since then he's spent around 12 hours just watching people whisper to him on YouTube.

I get tingles that start at the top of my head and then go down to my spine. Just like the definition in the ASMR article.

I used to get them a lot when I was younger listening to trance music but not so much anymore.

I was watching a whispering thing on youtube and it feels really good on my brain, its like a relaxing tickling sensation, very odd.

I had never heard of ASMR, to be honest I though everyone had those sensations.

I feel strange now that I know not everyone has them :\

I do to but its no so bad because my gf has it too. You should feel lucky you have it, think of it, a free legal high you can have whenever you want and doesnt do any damage. To my knowledge that is.

True, just wish it happened to me as much as it did when I was younger.

You just need to find what triggers it, whispering videos usually work, but try certain sounds like in trance music and certain tones and you can master it and use it to your advantage. I can get it just by sliding my hands on the edge of my desk so i am lucky in that sense.
