Arse being handed to me online (BF4)

Tactically i'm fine... as you said without auto aim it's a whole new game.

Just need to get my head around team speak type stuff as i'm lone wolfing it and getting picked off.

If you're having trouble with teamspeak, fair enough it's not the easiest of things to get used to. Give the in-game voip a try?

it's left-alt to talk to your squadies, if you're a squad leader you'll also talk to other squad leaders and the commander I believe. I think it also has in-vehicle and proximity based as well but have not tested this yet.

It's more that i don't understand the protocol for voice.. i started playing Dayz and any voip in game wasn't tolerated so i kinda though that was the case for all.. just move it to TM .

Obviously coming from Live the voice is just a free for all or party chat.

oh wow DayZ is a different ball-game to this fella, this is team-play not survival of the fittest (or biggest asshole as is usually the case with arma/dayz)

I would say it's strict as in, shut up when we game and give useful information when in a firefight :) but it's usually friendly

Add me on battlelog and i'll see what we can do

Soldier name is Subodai

err that's planetside dude.. not bf4.
That picture was just to illustrate how to aim with optical sights. It doesn't matter which game it's from, the aiming works the same in every semi-realistic game, at least at that range

Added you .. (i think) request from SLY MO PRO

Short to medium range... i'm much, much better now... getting mostly a positive kd/R .. it's just long range with AR's .. it's just practice i guess..

My advice if you want to get better at this is not to play anything else because bf4's shooting is pretty unique.

What you've effectively lost is the auto-aim feature from your console gaming. While I can see everyone is giving you tactics tips, surely you already know all this from playing it on a console? All you need is shooting tips right?

Pick a gun, that you like, and stick with it until you have all the unlocks for it. The worst thing you can do is get frustrated with a gun and try something else because you will be learning it's recoil and spread patterns (even though spread is random in bf4) all over again.

Stick it out, try the different attachments until you find something comfortable and then just roll with that gun until you master it.

+1

Best advice you can get right here.

I gotta say, I just learned to love the ACE 23 (or whatever the assault rifle you unlock with the assignment is called) It's accuracy is ok, its recoil is ok, damage is ok and firerate is also ok. It excells in none of those, but it has no serious downsides which makes it a force to be reckoned with. But anything further than 100m out is practically impossible to kill.

I've unlocked quite a few of the weapons now and I must admit that compared to BF3 and most other games including PS2, the weapons in BF4 have very little recoil, or should I say "hard to manage recoil."
Some guns, before you unlock an ergo or other type of grip for them have pretty high recoil, like the AEK and FAMAS. Once you unlock some sort of grip and sights for them though, they are pretty easy to use. Obviously restricted to high rate of fire not being good at long range and low rate of fire ones not being so good at close range.

The FAMAS in BF3 was ridiculous and the recoil was barely manageable no matter what set up you had. In BF4 it's pretty easy, even the AEK is slightly harder to manage which is weird because the FAMAS fires faster.

My favourite weapons at the moment are the SG553, ACE 52 CQB and the SAR-21.

SieB, I found the FAMAS rather easy to manage in BF3

Yeah, if you are shooting people within ~30 meters. The difference between the FAMAS in BF4 and BF3 is like the difference between night and day. Even at longer ranges you can easily drop people, compare those distances to BF3 and there is no way the FAMAS would even land a single round.

I'd recommend, if possible, getting squad up together. Not only does it make playing the game a lot more fun online, but it also helps you navigate the map and take down enemies, teamwork is key in battlefield!
