Ares ii

I think asus should have worked with a watercooling company like EVGA did with their HydroCopper GPU's. For a dual Gpu card of this caliber and price range the way they went doesnt seduce me at all.

Will that little 120rad able to correctly cool 2 7970GE chips ?

Will you have cooling capacity headroom for overclocking ?

+ dunno how noisy that lil 80mm vrm/memory cooling fan is.

Imo unacceptable for the price they are going to ask for this card !

thats a double thick rad and should most likely keep the temps in check. after all the 6xx and 7xxx generation of gpu's run cooler to start. iirc Zotac made a 580 with a similar cooler albeit alot thinner rad and it held the temps in check decently

You might be correct SIN that on the cooling side the rad will hold the temps in check indeed the rad looks like 50mm max on the picture but i could be wrong.

But for looks and performance it would have been nicer to see a fullcover waterblock so if you decide to nuke your wallet on buying one of these, to atleast be able to hook it in your custom loop in your very high-end system.

I doubt that any watercooling company will put a waterblock on the market for this card, who knows maybe ?

agreed I'd of rather seen a fc block as well. but this makes it an option for all who buy it rather than making 1000 of them and only selling say 850 cause the other 150 would be buyers dont wc at all. wonder how adaptable that tubing is we all know someone will modify it lmao

I just hope for asus that the pump will be dead silent and reliable. Imagine they encounter failure and noise problems like the first H100's and 100i's.

If i was in the market for such a card a fullcover block would be an absolute MUST or i won't buy. Having a beast like this and not be able to watercool it correctly makes no sense to me. Also if i want a dual Gpu card and keep it on air i would go 690 or powercolor 7990 and save a couple of bucks.

thats why when I purchased my 7950 last week I made sure it was a ref design and that they made a Fc block of it. Card should be here tomorrow and after running it a week or so on air I'll get the block for it.

The shroud on the card looks really nice however I don't like card's that are cooled like this which is why, I never buy the likes of the Corsair H100's etc because they cannot be upgraded easily.

I looked at the Linus video and you couldn't hear the fan on the card or the fans on the rad, although I don't think the card was being pushed so the fans were quiet but apparently they spin up the harder the card is being pushed.

The 80mm fan apparently is only on the card to cool the PCB, Vram and VRM's but I reckon it will also help to cool the GPU Cores a little but I also reckon it will be noisy.

everyone, don't be so quick to write of this card yet, as we've seen before there has been a limited production run of water blocks for the original asus ares card, it's very possible this could happen again, if this is the case i cannot wait to so one of these things overclocked to the max :D

Doesn't look too hard to upgrade, just take the stock hoses off and attach them to something bigger. If I win the lottery or something, I'm soooo getting this

A technical masterpiece as it may be, it just doesn't look nice. I'm not even too fussed about how it's cooled, but the block itself looks horrible.

Some of the benches in these reviews are amazing :D i can tell it would be difficault finding some of these in stock in some australian stores :(

First full reviews are out - Ill wait for TTL´s take on this. :)

Its a piss take tbh, Asus moved the NDA off to the 14th of Feb only to phone me earlier and say I can go live now. Yeah right because Im going to write a review 2 weeks ahead of time.....

Just rendering Videos now but the full review will be later in the week now
