"...Apple executives have decided to charge current users of Mac OS X Tiger for the final version of Boot Camp more than US$29 to run the software." Is this just a deliberate grab for cash? Feel free to voice an opinion below...

$29 is nothing, not sure how anyone can say apple are getting greedy tbh

Parallels Desktop is $79.99 and is probably the only thing bootcamp can be compared with, altho at least with bootcamp you have a full native windows boot and gain all the extra features like 3D performance etc.

If you want to talk about someone getting greedy, look at Microsoft releasing Vista in 4 different forms aswell as making 32bit and 64bit.

I don't think PV was saying he thought Apple were actually greedy, but he was asking if we thought Apple were being greedy.

Seeing as both me and Frag have posted that it's good vfm I don't see why you're getting upset about that tbh.

Let's just discuss the news article rather than get this into another Mac OSX vs Windows argument shall we?

I wasn't getting upset I was posting what I thought about it

I didn't post a personal attack or anything did I?

I edited it now, but I think you took it in the wrong context and also took my views on microsoft as a personal attack or something similar. I thought u hated fanboys?? (including ms ones)

:(

That is what I meant^

I don't like any fanboys you are correct, although if something is good then to say so is fine. Mac OSX is good :)

Vista Home Edition OEM for £55 is pretty good value imo, considering what it supports and how long it's likely to last.

Also boot camp is hardly a whole OS is it?

I'm in no way saying it's bad vfm, but then I am struggling to see who is?

I didn't say anything about the actual OS (whether it's crap etc), it was a view on a company being greedy, which was totally on-topic and had regard to the news post which asked if apple were greedy.

If anything it was only a comparison between apple and microsoft. Not windows and OSX as nothing was said about the operating systems?

Which is why I said about fanboyism

There's good reasons for Microsoft making that many versions and types of OS, but we won't go into them. OEM is priced well, whilst retail is OTT yes.

But I'm still confused what this has to do with an application that Apple used to give free on beta but now charge for (RC1 + 2 anyone?)...that isn't a full OS (so nowhere near as much use), but adds functionality onto a Mac, that is not even needed on ordinary PC's as there are other apps that let you dual boot?

And also who you're arguing with and who's a fanboy?

I think you should read what I said in my last post. The whole point about the Microsoft vs Apple thing (NOT WINDOWS VS OSX) was the greed thing (it was about PRICING of vista, not my view on the os).

You've now not only taken that out of context, you've somehow twisted it into starting your own argument of Windows vs OSX (which is ironic considering you said Let's just discuss the news article rather than get this into another Mac OSX vs Windows argument shall we?)

I'm not really a fanboy, but I deffinately do not have much respect for Microsoft.

eh, calm down, calm down!

I did not start any MS vs Apple argument, nor did I say that the add-on was a waste of money.

I have no idea what you're arguing about, but this thread is closed as I've called no-one a fanboy and you seem to be defending this for no discernible reason other than your fancy.

Let's just leave it that it's decent vfm (value for money fyi) and let it lie.

Please note

I would just like to say, for the record:

We ALWAYS welcome user opinions on ANYTHING that we post.

Nobody who posted in this thread had anything against Apple, nor would we want to stop people talking about Apple. In fact it was quite to the contrary: myself, Frag and PV all think this is a good program and good vfm.

This thread was closed as it clearly got out of hand and people decided that they had to "speak up against repression" when in fact they were being agreed with.

News threads will usually have a statement in them that enables you to argue the point and this is almost certainly not the view of the News poster, unless stated.

OC3D was initially set up as the original members had been banned and "repressed" at other forums for no reason. We WILL NOT do this to our users and DO NOT do this to our users. We are fair and even handed and like to give people every chance.

Please discuss news and other articles/reviews in a sensible, adult and calm manner in the future.

Please note that this thread is open for discussion of this news article
