Apple Release Safari 4 Beta

It really is super quick :) The only thing preventing me from using it full time is how the tabs span across the entire title bar. Not a fan of that, and it's hard to adjust to.

Some screenies:

Didn't Google's Chrome browser come up with that first?

Though will download FTSOI...

Indeed they did, but Apple didn't pull it off nearly as well. Google got it right with normal sized tabs. Having the tabs span across the entire title bar in Safari 4 is just pointless and difficult. Just means you need to move your mouse more when switching between tabs.

I'm still sticking to Google Chrome as my default. Maybe they'll fix up the UI in later builds. I am impressed that Apple actually managed to develop a program for Windows that doesn't use OSX visual styling though.

They are both based off the same rendering engine.

Nothing to do with the tabs, mind you.

I would've preferred it if it was more OSX like, although that screenshot shows it looking nice on Vista.

I just found out something else..

If you activate the developer menu in the menu bar you can set the user agent to make it look/work like an iPhone or an iPod touch. Could be quite useful.
