The few reviews I found were stellar.

And it has an input for a mic, though I couldnt find reviews on the mic quality, would probably be great for a gaming headset.

Anyone used one? I know they've had lower model amps for awhile, this is the newest I'm aware of.

With a yamaha chip in that bad boy, sound should be amazing. Probably a very over looked piece of hardware. Doesnt even have any reviews on newegg.

I didnt see anything that indicated that it had a mic input?

Also this is made by Yamaha so the sound quality is most likely going to be good. Would not be my first pic but good if you are just gaming.

true it doesn't indicate mic input exactly. but has a 3.5mm input on the front. would assume a mic would work there as it's an input and the right size. wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong. but no clue what else it would be used for.

what would be your first pick for an external amp that for sure has a mic input? out of curiosity.

The 3.5mm port on the left is the headphone port and the 1 on the right is a 3.5mm jack for like an mp3 player etc.

Tom used 1 of these in his review of the scythe speakers :

Looks quiet good.. Shame you can't make it a 2.1 system otherwise I'd snap 1 up.

Was it you that i said should try the HDMI out on your video card first? well if not try that and get a skype camera or something for a mic. thats what i do with my gaming rig. HDMI out with Logitech C310 mic.

It was not myself, however I have read your posts on that.

My video card is the Asus Direct cu II 6950 2GB, the outputs other than DVI are "display ports" do those carry audio if hooked up via hdmi from adapter?

display port does indeed carry sound.

Again you are the absolute boss of information in this category. Is there a display -> 3.5mm or 6.5mm adapter? As I'm sure you read the other thread I've just purchased the 4 channel mixer you recommended for switching.

Also just for information, I currently have the 5.1 X-FI Surround external sound card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...9102035&cm_re=x_fi_usb-_-29-102-035-_-Product

So would this next step even be worth it for me? frankly the sound with this thing is pretty decent to myself. Got it from a buddy, even though I have the Asus Formula IV with a "branded" X-Fi chip, this external usb is MUCH better imho.

The back of your monitor should have a 3.5mm out and or opticle out jack(s). Almost all the montors that have HDMI have one, im not 100% sure if display port ones do?

^^^^^^

is this question reffering to the sound card?

Yes it is king, sorry for not being clear enough.

And yes my monitor has all the inputs and outputs you mentioned.

Then what i would do is sense you are getting that mixer is: Plug the display port from your video card to your monitor, use the 3.5mm out jack to the mixer and TAADAA, your PC sound will be all wired up! As for your current sound card, you could use that to make the mic and headphone jack at the front of your case work. With the HDMI/Display port sound out you can not use those two front jacks, but as long as you have a sound cards/on board audio you can, you will just have to switch in the control panel sound settings from HDMI/Display port every time you want to use them.

Having sound going through a HDMI/Display port will supply you with 100% loss less sound and at the price of a Display port cable or adapter (or nothing if you have both)! Your only restriction here is how good your speakers are.

And to answer one question that i missed, but i think i said in your other post. You will need these http://www.amazon.co...08257226&sr=8-1 These are the 3.5mm to 6.5mm connectors you will need.
