I got Z5500's they are nice but i miss the mid range in my music movies lol. Any ways just curious probably wont buy, But has any one had ant experience with the "new" Z906 5.1 system from Logitech?

I have seen them in the online shops for a while now but reviews seem to be slow and no good ones that I can find.

They do only seem like a re worked set of Z5500.

Thoughts?

your exactly right mate, there pretty much reworked with a different control pod and the 3d stereo it is smaller then our z5500s theres a little bit more midrange ill give it that but for the price which is $449 its definatley not worth it. If you didnt have the z5500s then sure get the z906s but tbh Im keeping my z5500s and my z2300s just combine em

I didn't say I was going to get mid rang with the Z906's I was just simply seeing if there were any good in general. I will probably get a nice amp and a bunch of decent book studio shelf speakers and a powered sub for my next 5.1 system of if corsair bring out a 5.1 with similar specks to their SP2500's.

The Sub is only a 8", Plenty for 90% of people but this will give a few more of those mid ranges if the cross overs are set to do it.

I am waiting for my Z906 to be delivered , but what I am going to do with the front two speakers is hook up a pair of Tannoy Mercury MX2 hifi speakers that are rated @ 60 - 120 watts. The Z906 amp should handle them no problem because the Z906 speakers are 67 watts. This should give me good all round sound.

[EDIT] I got the Z906 today and put my Tannoy's on the front speakers. Doing so made a difference. There is a slightly better sound out of the set now. I can definately here midrange sounds now.

I own Z5500's myself and was looking at the new z906's and went and listened to them at Dick Smith and I have to say they aren't even as good as the 5500's I think Logitech have cheeped them down, for their replacement flagship model I don't think these are good enough.

The Z906 is a whole world better than the X540's it replaced. I dont care if they arent as good as the Z5500's. I just need decent sound card for them now. I am currently using onboard sound> The optical out on my motherboard only outputs 2.0 sound.
