3200 is AXDA3200DKV4E green pcb

2500 is axda2500kv4d

im confused here ><

usign a gigabyte pro board

and corsair twin x ram

i remember the pencil mod trick to unlock the multi + the old amd xp-m's that ran silly speeds becuase of lower volts needed @ stock + the unlocked multi from stock

All I'd say is set the speeds manualy and see if it still protets. Does CPU-Z recognise it right?

havent booted to an o/s

just to bios

all i had was mobo +ram + gpu + psu just to stest see if everythign is fine

the 3200 is goign one bay as there still fetching ok money £50 + (considering i have teh ebuyer receipt for £212 back in 03 i think it was )

With the older AMDs, the stock settings told u what the cpu was both in the bios and on cpuz. (gotta be careful here also cos they do sometimes under-set the settings)

Unfortunately when u overclocked them, the likes of cpuz would change the name of the cpu to what it thinks it is rather than reading the cpuid.

'Some' bioses would heading the cpu page with the correct description. But even when posting, the mobos/bios would report the cpu as something different if u oc`d it.

Only solid way of knowing what they are 100% is to read the sticker on the cpu. Be something like AXD2500ASDBLAHBLAHA. Google it and sites will tell u.

Really clear the cmos well when changing over cpus too.

Some of the mobos used to have jumper headers for the fsb of the cpu. Even tho u could adjust in the bios after. Often if u got that jumper wrong, the thing wouldn't even boot.

What's the gigabyte mobo's model number ?
