Antec Skeleton

At first glance it seems like something you could use as a LAN gaming rig, pretty efficiently. It also strikes me as something that might end up being quite loud.... and easy to spill things on/in.

Although it would have potential for excellent air cooling, just shove the thing up beside something like this lol. :D

Anyway on a more serious note, it would be a make for a great benching setup.

last time I spoke to Antec they said they were unsure if they were going to produce it.

This was a while ago I'll see if I can find anything new...

Dust control???

And that looks amazingly nice, BUT, im not sure on the fan on top which is staed in other comments.

It sure is interesting though, Ill say that.

This thing is meant for being a test bed. Whats wrong with having a little extra cooling on top? Ive seen alot of people just lay fans on things. Least this way here you got a giant fan thats actualy mounted to something blowing on the whole works.

Usless IMO.

As a normal case it provides the complete opposite to what people want; it's ugly, prone to dust, a hazard to pets and children and has a large footprint. As a bench table or "torture rack" it's also pointless, accessibility is crap with that top mounted fan and it's way overpriced.

Hate to burst your bubble, but doesn't that apply to all computers?

Its not hazardous to pets or children if it's out of reach. By 'footprint' i'd assume you mean something along the lines of power consumption. This case wont consume any more power than what you give it - and so its just like the tower alternative.

As for the thread; I saw an advertisement in CustomPC for the Antec Skeleton.

LOL it obviously takes up a lot more than a standard case.

One thing, why not build your own test bed rather than paying so much for that Skeleton?

Simply buy a cheap as you can get case, take out the motherboard tray.. and away you go :) If you want you can take out the hard drive caddy too and that is pretty much all you need to be quite honest with you.

Let the benchmarking begin! :D

Well, in a way you could say it does, since it is horizontal, it is quite a bit wider than the Armor, so takes a fair bit of desk space.

By footprint I mean it's square, which means it wont fit on alot of peoples desks (My Mountain Mods is lying on the floor as it wont fit either on top or under both of my desks).

As for a hazard, when a computer is in a "open air" environment as it is with this case theres always a chance someone can either ruin your hardware or hurt themselves. I know the chances are slim, but the risk is still there.

DucthDude nailed it. If your after a bench bed theres much (MUCH) cheaper alternatives that will most likely prove more effective and easy to use.

I think everyone has forgotten how S*** hot this case looks, and rediculusly sci-fi :D That and HAF from coolermaster, rubbish cases but look ace :D

Most people that would buy this either dont have kids, live by themselves, or are hxc benchers/testers/reviewers and have a dedicated area where it wont be a problem anyways.

Also, read. The mobo tray and everything else can slide out for easy access and since the PSU is right there then the cables will reach too.
